We will be checking in on a weekend day and staying at the BCV. If we are disastisfied will the front desk be able to switch us to OKW? The same number of points will be used. Or will I need to wait until Monday to call MS? My concern is that we are used to the 2BR at OKW and will be staying with 4 and a child under 3 in a 1br at BCV this time around. Maybe I should just go ahead and switch the reservation now?

My guess is not likely, although I've never tried switching before.

I have read posts where people have moved / changed their ressies but they always referenced the front desk calling MS. I don't think MS wants the resorts messing around with their system.

Then again, maybe you'll love BCV:D

If I'm clear on the timing issue, once your check-in dates arrive, if you cancel/dont show up you lose those points. What you want to do is in effect, cancel your BC stay and schedule an OKW stay after you check-in. By the rules, DVC doesn't have to let you change rooms unless you want to spend more points. Whether they bend the rules is of course, a whole different topic.

So my advice is, if you're really worried, change now (if you can) and try BC/BW/SSR later. If you're not, give it a try.

I hope this helps,
Joe

we were there the first week of aug. and i had ressies for the boardwalk studio sun. thru checking out on thurs. and then we had to move to wlv for thurs. night then the bc for friday night.

well wed. night i went down to the front desk and asked if they had a room here at the boardwalk for thurs night using points and the front desk search the computer and even the manager seach but no rooms, then i said i was moving to the bc on friday, and i said "can you search for a studio at the bcv using points",
the front desk called the beach club and they had one studio left, then she called ms and had them make the ressies because i the wlv had to release my points from there, so ms can transfer the points to the bcv.

i was told by ms before we left for our vacation that i could keep checking for a room at the bcv the day before we check in and they would use the same points as long as it was the same amount of points, otherwise i would have loss any points that were left over from the ressies.
good luck;)

That is really taking a chance. There might not be a villa available or not available for all the nights you need, if you attempt to switch at arrival. Something to think about. Also something to think about is....this a huge size difference. Not only are the BCVs smaller than OKW but you are also downsizing from a 2 br to a 1 br, this is a BIG difference!
Don't get me wrong I love the Epcot resorts and much more prefer this DVC location to any other on property, BUT if you are used to a 2 br at OKW, staying in a 1 br at BCV is going to be tight with 5 people. Personally I would either go for the additional pts and get a 2 br at BCV or if that is not an option then I would stay at OKW(well actually I would rebook the trip to when I could get the resort I wanted at the pts I wanted!)--but I mean for you and your situation. Another option might be getting 2 studios at BCV vs the 1 br, if you have a traveling group that would fit with this room configuration.
