Switching resorts...question

We are arriving on Saturday for a 3 night stay. We currently have 3 nights at Pop but were considering switching to either CSR or WL. I've switched resorts a few time before after I've made the reservation and have had no issues getting the credit for the money I've already paid. Well....I called this morning to get the price if we switch and the CM told me I couldn't get a credit...I would have to pay full price if I changed resorts?! This doesn't sound right to me since I've done this before. I explained that to him and with a attitude he told me he would have to find out from his supervisor if he could do that and wanted a answer right then and there. I couldn't give him one because I didn't know what the final price would be. He bascially hung up on me...............where's the magic...lol!
Is this correct? Disney will make you pay for a room you aren't staying in? Why can't they credit our reservation for the new resort? Has this happened to anyone else?

P.S. REGARDLESS I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR SURPRISE GIRLS TRIP!!!

If you have a room only reservation, I believe you can only cancel 7 days from your check-in day. Since you are only two days out.... I would suspect they cannot issue you a refund.

Also realize they may be somewhat frustrated this morning; the system has been down for maintenance for two days and it was slow coming back up and I bet they are flooded with calls this morning. I am sure all the CRO CM's are absolutely inundated.

I think the window for canceling is 5 days out. This is what I've done in the past. I change the date of the first reservation to be outside the 5 day window. It can be any time in the future.

Make another call and cancel that reservation that you just made with the new dates. They will credit your credit card.

But I wouldn't do ANY canceling until you are sure you can get CSR or WL. That should be your first call. This late, it may be difficult to get those resorts.

Good luck and let us know how it worked out.

Sadly, the ressie system isn't up yet (it is after 1:00 pm on the east coast). If they are arriving Saturday morning and even if the system gets back up today, they will be flooded with calls.

Even so, if it is a room only ressie, it is 7 days to cancel out, not five and they are only about 1-1/2 days to go.

Plus you also have to consider that every Disney resort operated independently. Pop can't just issue a credit for the Wilderness Lodge. As others have said, you'd have to cancel the old reservation and rebook at the new resort.

But I think the real problem this time is that you're too close to your arrival date.
