WOW!!!!! I was just able to switch from SSR to BC with my arrival date of THIS Sunday! I was not unhappy that we booked SSR but BCV or the BWV was our first choice. We are new DVC members and the lady at member services encouraged me to call frequently as the availability changes almost minute by minute. Is this scenario common or was I simply "lucky"???

I think you were lucky and it's a little before the high demand time.

Congratulations!!!

Yep, Lucky, Lucky, Lucky. Getting any of the Epcot resorts during Food & Wine is just plain Lucky. That being said, the shorter the stay, the more likely you are to get it. In my experience the most likely room type to be available would be a 1BR follwed by a 2BR followed by a Studio (with BWV GVs always in very short supply).

Nevertheless, when DD and I got stranded in WDW after Columbus Day 2005, we managed to score a BCV 1BR for two mid-week nights smack-dab in the middle of Food & Wine. We reserved the room at the airport when it became clear the we were not going to be getting back to Boston that day, and since that Thurs was Yom Kippur and no school in our district, we stayed the extra days. DW and DS had made it home, so it was Daddy and Daughter bonding time, which we'll never forget.

Have a great time, and thank your lucky stars.:wizard:

Lucky, and you are past the waitlist window. At 30 days the waitlist stops moving people around, unless you ask to be extended or something. So its sometimes possible to get short term reservations when people have been on the waitlist for months and have given up.
