Switching discounts? Possible?

So, FD is out for our dates (December 13-20) but not RO. We'd prefer RO. If we go ahead and book FD now, can we switch it to RO later when (if?) those discounts come out?

I'm paranoid...I don't want to miss out on FD if that's the best discount Disney ends up offering for our dates, but I really don't want FD...RO would be much more beneficial for us.

Sure you can do that. If you switch from a package to a RO you will need to put down a new deposit for the RO then cancel the package and get whatever you've paid towards it refunded to you.

Definitely possible. You might not even have to re-book; I've made significant changes before without having to put down a new deposit.

Yup, we switched from a PIN to free dining today and didn't have to re do our deposit or anything.
