so when do you make the big switch of packing away summer clothes and yanking out winter? Im thinking of doing it this weekend but was currious what others do

October for me, and it's time.

I always leave a drawer full of t-shirts, because I wear them under sweaters. What I do is trade tank tops for sweaters and long sleeved shirts.

I try not to dip into my sweaters until November though, because by April, I am SO SICK of the same clothes!

No switching here. We leave our summer clothes in the closet year round. We've been known to have Christmas dinner on the porch wearing shorts and it be freezing within a week. :sad2:

I don't switch them out. The fall/winter stuff will eventually make it's way to the front of the closet, though. My dresser is big enough (or I have few enough clothes?) that I can keep it all in there.

I did it today. (My whites pants and shorts were packed the day after Labor Day.)

I always keep all of my clothes in the closet, so no switching here.

I don't switch anything. It all stays. The only thing that gets put away is when the kids outgrow stuff.

For the boys, probably not for another month or two. But you can be sure that as soon as I do, we will have a warm snap and I will have to got to the extra closet for shorts and short sleeves to wear. I have a large closet so all of my seasons are in there together.

No switching. It's just the two of us, and our closet is huge.

you people stink! :rotfl2: I would love to have a huge closet! I have a tiny aparment and crammed in my closet is my dresser, a laundy hamper, various unfinished winter projects (to be done this fall) and two racks on the floor (pants) and shirts hanging up and a ton of clothes in laundy baskets (clean, just lazy. I keep winter clothes in my old suitcase under my bed. I love the suitcases because it makes me think of my great grandmother (they were hers). Some of those suitcases hold my Christmas/hanukkah stuff under my futon. I think I will move clothes this weekend. Im off tommrow too so im so set!

I just did this today. I had DS get my bag of fall/winter clothes out of the attic; they've been washed, dryed, and are now in my closet. However, I won't put the bags with my summer clothes back into the attic for at least another week or two. If we get a warm day, I may want to wear my capris and sandals to work. :sunny:

I'd love to live in a climate where I could wear the same (spring/summer) clothes all year round. Some day... :)

I keep most of my clothes in rubbermaid bins in my closet, with some stuff hanging up. I always have a selection of clothes hanging up. Last night I took out the bin of long sleeve shirts and put away the tanktops.

thanks!! now I know its the right time. Well actually I figured it waas since I had to pull out my big heavy parka. Gonna have to wait till tommrow since I feel yucky

I leave half of my summer clothes and half of my winter clothes here at the lake because I usually arrive up here sometime in April and don't leave again till the beginning of November or so.. I have to be prepared for all kinds of weather here..

Once I get back to my DD's, I keep both kinds of clothing out.. Even with the heat shut off in my bedroom there, my room is the hottest room in the entire house.. I have to sleep in shorts and a sleeveless men's athletic tee shirt - with the windows partially open..

So I guess I never make an actual "switch"..:upsidedow

why do you need to switch? can't you wear the same thing year round?

hehehehehehhehehehehe

oh, that right...you need two or three sets of clothing. The only difference here is I start wearing long pants about the middle to end of october, then back to shorts in march or april.

but it DOES get cold here...heck last winter it got down to about 61 or 62!!!!

had to get out my disney hooded sweatshirt while I was planking some fish on the grill!!!

it gets to -30 here so No year round wardrobe. though the tees (that my boss hates) are yearround. Our center is warm somedays so I do year round tee shirts with sweaters overtop. i tell ya its 69 in here and STILL FREEZING!!! gatta move the bed to the little room just to stay warmer.

I don't switch. I wear the same clothing in hot or cold weather. Doesn't matter to me. Then again I don't have a lot of clothing anyway and hate sweaters.

I'm off Friday, so I'll be doing it then--up bright and early with the coffee ready to go.

It's more of the shorts and summer skirts going away and the heavy sweaters coming out. I actually keep a couple of pairs in rotation year round. I can wear them with boots through most of the winter. The tanks are layering basics, they stay in the drawer year round for easy access. As do the long sleeve t-shirts. There's always the need for them at least one week during the summer.

I keep a basket in the closet and fill it with the clothes I start to wear then decide are "too summery." Add to it the ones that I know I won't wear again this year....white shorts, etc. Another box gets the stuff that never got worn this summer so I won't waste space packing them away.

We're still a long way from winter here, but I'm switching to more fall colors in my short sleeved tops anyway...and finally wearing jeans again.

Ever since we doubled the rods in our closet, no switching is necessary. :thumbsup2
