Switching Cabins

We are sailing May 8 w/ my family of 4 and my parents (2).
My parents currently have a Navigators verandah where we just have an outside cabin. My parents are willing to switch with us, but will the cruise line let us do the swap? The cabin with the verandah is only for 3, but our 4th is a 9 month old, no bed needed...

We want the verandah for when the kids are napping and for the evenings

I seriously doubt they will let you "officially" switch. They are very strict about the number of people in a stateroom matching that room's stated capacity, including infants and toddlers.

A couple other considerations:

The number of people per cabin is closely monitored due to lifeboat and other emergency considerations. If you show up at one lifeboat with too many people, then it could be bad (even an infant).

If someone gets lost, they may try to return the little one to the wrong cabin.

Your stateroom attendant's workload is balanced, much like seating in a restaurant.

You can unofficially change, and even maybe officially change by declaring one of your little ones are staying in your parent's stateroom. of course during naps, you may be able to inhabit either cabin as you desire.

I've been told by DCL that maritime law requires each cabing to have at least one bed per occupant, even if one of the occupants is an infant that would NOT be using one of the beds.

Since every Navigator's verandah room only sleeps 3, then families of 4, regardless of children's age, can not be assigned to one of these rooms.

How ever, since you have multiple rooms, I don't think Disney will have any problems with people within your group moving around. I would make sure that the two rooms are linked in DCL's reservation system so that if they will know to check BOTH rooms if problems arrise.
