Is it anything more than a museum type walk-thru? Is there anything interactive in it? The DS was he would like to do it. I have watched it on You-Tube and don't really think it's going to be as fun as he is expecting.

All input is welcome.

Nothing interactive, but my kids love it! They love to climb to the top and back down several times a trip.

Yes it is just what it appears to be on youtube. My son (9) and I like the film so we like to do it once each trip.

Yes, it is more of a walk through, but we really enjoy it! But, we really enjoy Tom Sawyer Island too so maybe we're not the best judge!

However, it has the Disney level of attention to detail, plus there's usually no line and it doesn't take too long, and there's pretty cool views from the top! My kids were 10 and 8 when we went last year, and they really enjoyed it! (but again, they like TSI!)

We enjoy it too. It's nothing special, but there is definitely the attention to detail. Views from top are great too. There is never a line so it's not a huge waste of time to walk through.

Hi!

(My DH's nickname was Super A when he was a kid.)

How old is your son? Has he seen the movie? My kids really want to go too. I have very fond memories of it from a child's perspective. It really captures the imagination in an old fashioned kind of way. Worst case (With someone super slow or an actual line to deal with) you will "waste" 10 minutes. Do it. I have a feeling it won't be around forever. DL's had a Tarzan makeover.

I didn't realize that the DL version had a Tarzan makeover! It's funny that you mention your childhood memories - I have strong memories of it too from childhood! My son enjoyed the book but I'm not sure if he's seen the movie yet...

My son will be turning 8 during our 2017 trip. That said, he is very young for his age. He hasn't seen the movie but saw the attraction in his WDW for Kids book. This will be his first trip ever. Sounds like I will likely have to suck it up and let him have his wish.

Let him watch the movie. Then you will have no choice! LOL!

He should see the movie and see the attraction. It's not *fun*, but it's fun. If that makes any sense.

I saw the movie when I was a kid and always loved going up the Swiss Family Treehouse! Actually just bought it from Costco on DVD when they had it the other day! It may be simple and boring to adults, but I feel like it's a kid's dream (especially if you've seen the movie and have an active imagination). My brothers and I would claim bedrooms and make up stories about things that we would do if we lived there. I still make my husband go up if we have some time to do it but sadly it is left out on most trips. What kid wouldn't want to live in a tree house?! Typing this I think I have realized why I ended up a Kindergarten teacher...

I hate to be the grump in the bunch here but this one is not of my faves. After you're walking around all day, climbing over 100 steps rarely seems like a good idea to me. When we did do it, it impressed no one.

As a general rule, I DO like it when they do things based on some of the less popular characters of today but not this one. i also did the Tarzan themed one in Ca and it was n't much better - a real lot of steps with a few props and decorations here and there.
If it keeps other people from reaching Aloha Isle before I do, it;s not all bad though!

Surprisingly, it is one of our favorites and a must do every trip. I am not sure what the appeal is, but it always makes the list.

No, there are no 'bells and whistle' interactive things to do on Swiss Family Robinson Tree House - which is why it is awesome. It's great for expanding the imagination, and letting kids actually think about stuff, instead of getting instant gratification from pressing a button, etc. My kids loved it from an early age, and as young adults they still have to go up every trip. It's beautiful up there at dusk, too. I've got some lovely photos from our last trip.

If you haven't seen the movie, I could see where it would seem kind of boring. I love going up there because it is an exact replica of the one in the movie and that really intrigues me. Also, the views from the top are nice.

I liked the movie when I was a kid, and I always really liked the treehouse. DD6 has not seen the movie, but she still really likes the treehouse. She's been going since she was one year old, and I think we have done it at least once on every trip. It is fun to imagine living on an island in a treehouse! Also, I love the organ music that's played in it. :)

Coolest. Treehouse. Ever. Not hi-tech/interactive/state-of-the-art/anything else.
