I was thinking about buying my son the movie for his birthday. I was thinking about getting him familiar with some of the older movies on which some of the attractions are based. There are several editions out there. Can anyone recommend one for a 4 year old?

The version that the treehouse is built to be just like is the Disney version which stars John Mills & Dorothy McGuire. It is a great movie........ After watching it, it makes the tour of the treehouse so much more meaningful.

Agree with HopperFan! That movie is a great adventure! The Dad builds a really nice tree house for the Mom, and when you go to the Tree House at WDW you will see many of the same elements that you saw in the movie ::MickeyMo

Just throwing in my 2 cents!...I got the same thing for my boys (the one w/John Mills) and they love it! They are ages 8, 5 and 3 by the way. They love it and yes, it made the walk through the treehouse in Adventureland all the more fun!

I found my copy on eBay, by the way.

If I dig deep enough, I KNOW we have that movie, somewhere in our house. It is a fun film, and I remember seeing it as a kid and thinking the oldest brother was a "cutie"...ahhh,the 70's!! :lovestruc

That's great to know, because I too am trying to collect movies that attractions at WDW are based on for my kids to watch before they go for the first time (in 2007 I think). It's hard though, becasue you can't just walk into a store and buy them anymore, and e-bay isn't that easy for me here in Barbados. But I'm trying!

That movie is listed at Amazon.com, I would also try Buy.com. I use them both. Maybe shipping will be easier through them. They are constantly competing and offering good shipping deals.

I am doing the same thing with my kids. We are going to Disney the last week of May 2005. But instead of buying all of these old Disney movies - we rent them
through Netflix. Less money and when we see them we just send them back and then they send us another Disney movie on my list.
Netflix has a huge selection of old Disney movies. And the Swiss Family Tree House is one of the movies i already have on my renting list with Netflix.

There are several other Disney movies out there as well for Disney Rides, such as Dumbo, Pirates Of The Caribbean etc....

My kids love watching these Disney movies with us. Its a great way to get them excited for our trip to Disney. Especially my 5 year old. This will be his very 1st trip to Mickey World which is what he calls it. And this will be my 8 year olds second trip.We can't way to go!

I bought the Disney Swiss Family Robertson last night at Walmart for $5 on VHS.
My daughter is watching it as I type.
Any other suggestions for "older" Disney movies??

We have lots of the old classics that are represented in Fantasy Land! Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Cinderella, Swiss Family, Winnie the Pooh...
Don't own Peter Pan yet but want to! I would love to get ahold of a copy of Song of the South (Splash Mt. theme) but it's hard to find as it was never released in the US on video. No ride for this but the Pinocchio characters are out and about in MK sometimes, as are those from Robin Hood - both great Disney movies! We also have Herbie the Love Bug movies (and stayed in that building at ASMo!). SO many great old Disney classics!

Has anyone mentioned Tom Sawyer yet? Me & Dd watched this a couple weeks ago. I had forgotten how good it was. She got interested in it after we went on Toms island in December. I rented the old version and the video man told me that the old version gets rented alot more often then the new version.
