I guess I'm confused how doctors are not testing people, yet they are assuming everyone has H1N1?
In my city, we are still testing for H1N1, and so far, only 1 new case this week, but almost everyone has a throat thing. It's very common where I live in Southern Ontario as the weather changes so rapidly, so everyone has scratchy and sore throats. Some are strep, but again, those are being swabbed for, and you can have very similar symptoms to H1N1. Some people have identical symptoms to H1N1, and guess what? They were tested, and no flu!
My feeling is that they are assuming everyone has it because it's better to treat people as they do, so that they can take proper precautions. As we've all determined, many people don't know how to practice proper hygiene; hence, the whole H1N1 problem in the first place.
The problem, as I see it, is that lots of people, and their family members are being put on antivirals - are the antivirals going to run out? What if the body really didn't need them? Just like with docs who prescribe antibiotics for kids, just as a precaution.
Hope everyone stays healthy, Tiger
