I just heard the news and I'm hoping everyone and loved ones are all ok.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Eyewitness News has learned of Orlando's first confirmed case of swine flu. According to the chief medical officer for Adventist Health System, Loran Hauck, the case was diagnosed Tuesday morning.

"A case was diagnosed here in Orlando today on a tourist from Mexico who came to Disney attractions two days ago to visit," Hauck wrote in an email obtained by Eyewitness News.
No further details have been released, but Eyewitness News is working to learn specifically what days the tourist was at the parks and which park the tourist went to.

Details about the tourist, beyond being from Mexico, have not been released.

Eyewitness News contacted the Orange County Health Department who was unable to confirm the report.

The bold is mine...

And the theme parks board already has a thread started on Saturday about this flu. Hopefully we can merge all threads with a sticky somewhere so those of us that are interested can keep up.

I figured Orlando would be a big target for this flu given the amount of people that travel there from all over the world.

Stay well you guys and it might not be a bad idea to avoid all the parks for a few weeks. People with travel plans should still go, but just be more vigilant about keeping their hands clean. I would hope people exhibiting flu symptoms would keep their fellow human beings in mind before going out in public.

As of right now there are NO confirmed cases of the flu anywhere in Florida.

Obviously a place that attracts the number and diversity of travelers that WDW does would be 'at risk'. Everyone needs to take common sense precautions and be aware of your own health level and the health level of those around you.

Florida Hospital is holding a live press conference about this as I type this and they are confirming that no cases of the swine flu has been reported. They confirmed that email about someone at WDW having swine flu is not true.

There was a female tourist from Mexico who was stopped at OIA exhibiting signs of influenza. She has been placed in quarantine and so far they are saying it is not confirmed as swine flu - just the regular influenze virus.

Cuz everybody knows spring is flu season! ;)

There is a confirmed case in my local area. I am not panicking. We never get flu shots and the flu is not a big deal as we are in good health. Hopefully those that would get complications will be able to take precautions to stay well.

Have to be honest though. I am concerned about this not being over in ten days when we need to get on that cruise ship. I am not worried about my health- just worried that there will be too many sick people for DCL to sail. Hoping this all blows over soon.

Wow how irresponsible of the Orlando Sentinel to add fear and panic to the situation...

Not to be an alarmist, What I have read about this Flu is it is not killing the young or old it is not killing the people with bad immune systems. it is killing the middle aged healthy people. It seems strange but thats what they are saying.

It wasn't only the Orlando Sentinel that reported this information. WFTV reported it also. They ask the person holding the press conference why this information was released and they had no answer.

John...please keep us posted on this! We leave for Disney on Monday and I have to say I am a bit nervous.

I don't know what to make of the whole thing. I do think the media is doing some fear mongering for ratings, but still, you have alot of more reliable experts out there saying that it could get bad, spread more, become worse, ect...you don't know who to believe or listen to anymore in the 24 hour media world. I'm leaving Sunday and just wish there was more solid information out there, right now, it seems like alot of guessing. Normally this kind of thing wouldn't bother me, but I am a bit concerned. Guess I'll just keep on eye on things and see what happens in the next couple days.
