If you come down with Swine Flu at Disney, are there places to go to get swabbed and get on Tamiflu??

i would think your best bet is to go to the front desk and ask them where the nearest hospital is and get tested and then I would refrain from going to the parks and putting yourself where you are near alot of people. just use common sense and consideration for others.

lets hope you dont come down with the swine flu while you are at disney, just use best practice wash your hands, cough or sneeze in your sleeve and dont touch your eyes, nose and ears.

My family had it at Disney the beginning of this month. My older son got it first, we took him to Centra Care and he was not swabbed. No tamiflu given. I got it a couple of days later, as well as my 2 year old, and we went to Celebration Hospital Saturday night at midnight. We got swabbed, and got Tamiflu - not just for us, but for the entire family (we were driving home to Massachusetts in 2 days and doc gave it to us in case anyone got sick on the road). We were much happier with the care we received at Celebration Hospital.

There are walk-in clinics and hospital ERs all over the area, I would also suggest going to the front desk and asking for suggestions.
The flu seems to have come and gone here in Texas, maybe Florida is the same?

Yea the swine flu is dying out here in FL at least where I live.

As to how they handle it I don't know. But back in September I caught the swine flu at WDW before starting a Disney cruise.I started getting symptoms the day after we left port. They tested me on the ship and gave me said it was the swine flu and told me to come back if it got worse. It didn't interfere with my cruise at all I walked around, ate, and played sports the whole time.

:scared1: You probably also gave it to many other passengers. Did you wear a mask while you did all of this?

I think I heard they have stations set up at all of the petting zoo's.:thumbsup2

Fwiw...Most Dr's offices are not even swabbing anymore. If you present with flu symptoms they assume it is flu unless you are admitted to a hospital where they may swab because of keeping flu patients isolated. They also may or may not even give tamiflu.Tamiflu and relenza are in short supply in some areas, and some areas are only administering it to the high risk category patients. .

Not sure why as you CANNOT get it from animals! They have always had hand washing and sanitizer at the affection station, as is most appropriate. Still worry more about what you can get from other HUMANS.....

I was disgusted with the parents who were not regulating their children at all.

Well it's their children not yours so don't you butt in or judge them.Personally me,my friends, and most people I know were glad we got it so early. We now have protection against it so if it gets worse and actually starts killing healthy people we'll be fine.

That's we we got vaccinated for the seasonal flu as well as the swine flu BEFORE we go to WDW. We leave 12/26 and didn't want to take any chances. pixiedust:

I had the swine flu and had the headache of my life! Plue the aches and pains of flu. No vomitting. I could not get off the couch literally for about 3 days. Could I still function yes, but I did not feel great. But that being said I still took precautions not to give it to anyone else. I think it is over rated and the shot is not needed. But knowing I had it I would never have walked around the general public, that IMOP is irresponsible and why you buy trip insurance. No offense intented to the OP but there is a reason they have been closing schools.

I didn't think much of the H1N1...UNTIL a good friend of ours (31-year-old female) was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia from the flu. She has been in ICU and on a ventilator for almost 3 weeks, and at one point they didn't expect her to survive. She is slowly improving, thanks be to God, but for some people - the swine flu can be deadly.

My adult daughters came home for Thanksgiving, so today we all (including husband and 19-year-old son) got the H1N1 vaccine (or nasal spray) at our medical clinic. I'm going to WDW next week and on a cruise on Dec. 6, and the last thing I want to worry about is picking up the flu on my vacation.

Nancy I am also from IL - Chicago to be exact :) At any rate the shot and spray will not prevent you from getting it but you "may" get a much milder case if you get it. A friend of mine had the spray and she still have full blow swine flu for a week. I take large dose of Vit C all flu season long and I never get the flu. This is the first year. I also only had it for 3 days. So with that in mind "beef up" you immune system with healthy eating, vitamins, SLEEP and good hygenie! Have fun on your vacation!

I'd also like to point out that the vaccine isn't that safe.Quite a few people have had health problems bc of the H1N1 vaccine.

yep! and the mercury levels are very high as well! No thanks! I would rather tough it out then have long term consequences from mercury!
