Hello!

I posted earlier, I will be studying in London this autumn, however my boyfriend will probably be living in Swindon. (And thus I will probably be spending a lot of time - most weekends - there as well.) Having never been there, I was wondering if anyone here could describe it for me? Based on what I have read, people don't seem to like it very much (including my boyfriend!) But any information you have would be most appreciated! Thanks! :sunny:

Well I live in Swindon, have done for over 20 years. My husband says the best thing about it is the M4 out of town!.

Actually, it's a Northern town down in the South. Shopping isn't wonderful, though we do have a great Designer Outlet. Restaurants are very bad - infact there really isn't one we go to at all - we always have to travel eslewhere BUT the surrounding countryside is lovely and it's central for most motorway netorks and only 75 miles from London if that appeals to you..

I live about 25 miles from Swindon.

It isn't the prettiest town in the area, but a short car ride will have you in the heart of the Cotswolds and some amazingly lovely villages.

And the football team is the best in the entire country! :rotfl2:

Hi

Does your boyfriend happen to play lacrosse? If so I can put him in touch with some like minded guys in Swindon so it can give your social aspect a kick start.

As Kev says it is not the prettist place but it has loads nearby, including the centre of the universe whichis Reading!! :rotfl:

I went to college near Swindon (Shrivenham) where I met my DH, and what can I say about Swindon? Well put it this way we moved to Northumberland!

We make lots of trips back there as all of his family live there and I can vouch for the fact that the shopping village is FAB, um ...... Oxford is not far away also :flower: :rotfl2:

He doesn't play lacrosse, unfortunately. But thanks for the offer! Fortunately for me, I will be living in the Bloomsbury area of London, and just visiting him on the weekends...or based on what you all have told me, it may be him getting out of Swindon to come and see me. ;) I will be there for about 10 days before I move into London, so I guess I will bring lots of books, etc to occupy my time since he will be working during the day. Or perhaps just spend lots of time at the outlets... :teeth: Thanks for your responses everyone!!
