Anyone ever purchase a bathing suit from Lands End? I just ordered one, but I am wondering how they are cut, true to size, generous, skimpy??

I am probably the only person on Earth who doesn't like them. I've ordered 3 different suits and each one of them made me look bad (even though they look great on the models). The one-piece suits were too short (even when I ordered a long-torso size) and the tankini's just didn't look right. The bottoms were too generous in my opinion and the tankini top was not long enough and cut too wide. I don't have an odd shape or anything (I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs). I finally stopped ordering because the shipping costs were killing me.

I have purchased 3 swimsuits from Land's End. I love every one of them ,and they all have lasted years. They seem to be cut generously, but pay close attentin to the description. It mentions the leg cut, some are high, medium and lower.
You can purchase some at Sears. You might want to start there if you're concerned about fit and size.

Wow! I've always had good luck with Lands End swimsuits. They're the only brand I buy because of their modest cut, and they fit so well and stay in place no matter what I'm doing!

I personally think they are WELL worth the extra money ...

I ordered my first several months back. I haven't actually worn it yet, other than trying it on...which I've done a number of times. I love the fit. Very true to my size. And I'm plus sized. So for me to not only find one that fits decent, but that I also like is something of a miracle. I bought a tankini and the bottom is actually a skirt (with a panty attached).

I will probably end up buying all future bathing suits from Land's End too.

I'm 5'2" tall and very curvy.... ;) I bought my first tankini (faille) about 5 years ago and swore I would never buy another 1 piece again! I just this year bought another tankini from them, a nice halter top. I LOVE it!!!

They are very flattering, and most important, comfortable. I'm not the slightest bit uncomfortable walking around in them, going down water slides etc. And the size I ordered is the size I actually wear so no problems there!

Definitely worth the money imo! The first suit I bought still looks great.

I ordered one a couple of months ago and did not even try it on. I just kinda held it up and knew it was not going to fit right. I just have such a horrible shape and no matter what, nothing is ever flattering. :guilty:

I did a double take there. This is almost my exact experience. My last purchase was three years ago. I bought a once piece with a zippered front and the elastic rotted very quickly and the bottom of the suit was too generous it looked like I had something in there if you know what I mean ;) I hide all my pics from typhoon lagoon because of that stupid suit.

Every swimsuit I've owned for about the past 15 years has come from them. I've loved every single one of them :thumbsup2

They've always run right on target w/ size, IMO

All my suits have been from LE for at least 5 years. In fact I just ordered a new tankini in a skort style- they won't ship it for a couple weeks though. I find the fit is true to size, the straps are comfy and the bottoms don't ride up. I did get one I didn't like, a halter top, but halter tops in generally don't look so good on me (not much to fill them with :rolleyes1 ) I don't know why I ordered it.

I have been buying suits from there since I was a teenager; they were one of the first to have the long torso option in one pieces (I am small chested and hated bikinis). I have not found them to be too generous in the bottom, but I am amply endowed back there. I have found them to wear well but they don't look too stylish. Now that I have found tankinis, I rarely order from there anymore.

What I mean by "too generous" is not that they are too big, but that they are not cut high enough. Whether you have gorgeous legs or bad legs, if the "cut" on the upper thigh is too far down, it will make you look bigger through the thigh. I find that I need a higher cut suit. Even Land's End's skimpiest bottom is not cut high enough.

I spent quite a bit ordering and returning before I finally found what "suited" me. (Sorry) I had to pay shipping, but at least I could return to the Sears here. (Which unfortunately carries no LE suits in stock to try on.)

This is what worked for me. These shorts in white.....

and the top from this set....

Expensive as heck, but it really works for me. The shorts from the set I sold at my recent garage sale. I really wish they had used the swim shorts I like for the set. The ones that came with are just horrible on me! But I like the sporty top a lot.

Most of the tanktinis I ordered just don't provide enough support up top for a not real large but over 40 and needs some support woman!! Way too much sagging!! These swim shorts I love though!

I really wish women still used swim dresses like in the good ol' days. : ) This is just too complicated!

I love love love my Lands End swim suits.

My only complaint is that their sizes don't align with the rest of the LE lines. That is, I have to order 2 sizes larger than my "usual" just to feel comfortable in LE swimsuits. (I'm a solid LE size 2 or 4 in "dry" clothes and must order size 8 in swimsuits.)

So, don't be surprised if you feel a little smooshed in their swimsuits when you order your regular size. Just "order up" and it should be fine.

BTW, I agree with everyone else. They last a long time. (Mine are going on 6 years.) You'll definitely get your money's worth.

I've bought numerous one-piece swimsuits from them over the years because I can consistently find small-size swimsuits with underwire (I'm thin but curvy--underwire is hard to find in modest size4-6 suits). They fit true to size IMO.

I have one "tugless tank" and one tankini (new for this year) from Lands End. I like them very much.

I think the sizes are pretty true to size. I wear a 10 in just about everything, but last year they had a suit I really wanted on clearance and they only had it in an 8. I ordered it (stupid) and it was too small. Not drastically too small, but too small to look right.

If I end up with something that doesn't fit I return it to Sears so I don't have to pay return shipping, but it is a bummer to pay $6 for them to send me something that doesn't fit! It is like paying to try something on. I'd rather go to the mall and try things on for FREE! ;)
