Is there an age/height requirement?

My DS is also wanting to know, do the fish and sharks swim real close?

He has become shark obessed in the last couple of weeks, with many of our local beaches being closed down due to sharks and one small one swimming and "spinning" in the waves about a year ago.

I don't know about the height/age requirement. The sharks usually stay down at the bottom, though one did swim VERY close to my husband during one trip. I think he nearly peed himself. I've done it about a dozen times and never had a shark come close. The only thing that came close to me was a ray.

You don't have to worry about these sharks. They are the most well-fed sharks in the world. Disney keeps them happy. :)

I'm not sure if there is an age requirement either, but my DD was 7 the first time she did it.

I'm pretty sure that there is no height requirement. The only problem is that the masks may not fit too well on a smaller face. They have only one size mask.

Have fun!

Thanks he should be fine, unless they have changed it since then. He's 9 and is like hoping they swim close. Not me :earseek: , the one rolling in front of us last year, was as close as I cared to get, but am wanting to try this.

My husband and I have done this a few times. The sharks often stay at the bottom but there are always the ones up closer to the surface. I had one swimming alongside me basically last time and one swam head on at my husband on his first time into the tank. He was seriously chalk white when we got out of there! LOL Of course that may or may not have had something to do with me also grabbing his foot from behind right after that happened! ;) It's a good introductory experience for someone interested in sharks and it's a much better option than booking an actual ocean snorkel session with the aim to swim with sharks. (Thats a lot more scary!) Here there are CM's standing in the water on makeshift rocks the entire time and the sharks are more used to people since they are in the water with them all day, every day. You can also, for $20 for the first person and then $15 for each subseqent person book an extended swim with the sharks. That way there are less people in the water, you can stay in there longer with surface-air snorkel tanks (I think thats what the things are called? Its like a miniaturized scuba tank.) and swim and take pictures then.

How do you book the extended snorkel trip??? I'd really like to do it in June.

There is a small booth just outside of sharks reef where you can book this. You can't miss it.

I was wondering this as well- I can't find ANY info on it except from people mentioning it on message boards :confused3

Can you book anytime during your day there (well within reason?). Maybe let them do this first, then if they really like it go and book this?

i hate to book and pay, and then any of them, myself included, say "ah no thanks"........

I believe you have to book atleast a half an hour in advance.

This is this first time I heard of this. Where is this place you can swim with the sharks?

You do this at Typhoon Lagoon water park. Watch out, the water seemed pretty cold to me last time!! :earseek:

do you just queue up to swim with the sharks at TL, is it best to get there early, how much time do you have with them, sorry for all the questions but we did not go to TL last time only BB, going to TL next month(wow that sounds so cool now its april 1st :flower: ) my DD and Dh would love this, not me I'm a chicken! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm trying to talk DH into this! This soounds sooo cool! Although, I am worried about the chilly water. Is it below 60F? I can handle ocean water in the upper 60s...

The water is cooler than the rest of the park, but not toooo bad.
Try it Amanda, you'll have a great time!

hey why pay to swim with the sharks... just go down the coast a little and they are all over the water LOL... crazy pics on the news :bitelip:

You don't have to pay to swim with the sharks at TL either... :flower: Only if you want to do the extra tour that the others are talking about.

Cutting into some major swimming time for tourist too. I couldn't believe the pictures showing the massive amount off Deerfield Beach the other day.
