We are staying at Grand Californian in November (7-10). I know that the pool is heated, and my kids will swim in any weather, but is it decent for most adults to jump in?

We have been in December and swam:confused3...sometimes the breeze could get a bit cool in December in the evening but we easily swam in the afternoon/mid day.:thumbsup2

I think it depends what weather you are used to. Most native Californians don't swim in the winter, but we also think 60 degrees is freezing! I was chatting with some people from Canada while in line. It was December and I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt and gloves and they were wearing shorts! Their kids had been enjoying the pool at GCH. The thought of swimming was crazy to me, but they loved it! They also said the pools were deserted, so they were having a ball. It was summer temps to them.

It depends on what you are use to. You will have a mostly empty pool. We didn't swim then but do cut through the pools to get from the villas to the CA entrance... I can not remember there being a lifeguard once.

When we went in April 2010 we swam. It was really cold though (windy), so we just sat in the hot tub. The hot tub was wonderful, though! Definitely a must to relax the muscles!!

We are from Iowa.

We did a Disney Cruise in December 2010 and it was so cold. The temps were in the 60 and the kids were swimming. I really prefer at least 80 degrees to swim. The hot tub is a nice alternative tho.

I personally would not even consider it in November except for maybe the hot tub. But some other folks do swim.

I would also say it depends where you are from. Me and mine would swim. We would be in the minus Celcius by then sometimes 30 below zero C. So swimming wouldn't be out of the question.

We are from Hawaii and went the week after Thanksgiving last year. We swam the first couple days of our trip. We only went in the pool with the slide and the hot tub. We had a great time in the pool, there was about 20 other people in the water. Water was a little cold, it was the air that was bad. We had a fun time on the slide and the life jackets are great for the kids. We saw several lifeguards on duty. We saw lots of people swimming really early early morning and after dark.

Have fun!! You may or may not get to swim, really depends on the weather, it could go either way. I wouldn't tell your kids about swimming and if you get to it's a bonus and if not they won't know what they are missing :)

HAHA! That's as if you were you talking to me? But it couldnt have been. I was there in November, but I dont have kids. I am from Vancouver Canada, a 1/2 hour away from the US Washington border, but I agree that it all depends on where you are coming from. In November we wore pants and light jackets every day, but most days during the afternoon about 1:30-2:00 we went swimming as we found it quite warm as tho it were summer time. But that only lasted a few hours. When it was warm, it was warm, but when the clouds rolled back in, it got time for jackets and pants again.

LOL I'm from Vancouver too! I was just reading over this and thinking "Geez, gloves? In California?!" Even in our winters it has to get at LEAST below 0 degrees (celcius of course) before I put on gloves! I can't imagine wearing them in anything higher than actual freezing temps! :lmao:

LOL, I know but we are wimps here! You should see the parking CMs in their parkas when it is in the 50s. The Canadians were outright laughing at them. I get cold easily, hence the gloves, they were just knit ones. ;)

What about Californians staying inside when it rains? We have 9 months of rain where I live. If we all stayed in nothing would get done. ;) No, I don't like it but you deal with it. The temp. thing makes sense since the body adjusts to where you live. But the rain thing is just a mental block.

Why go out in the rain when it will be sunny tomorrow? :lmao:

It depends on the weather. November can be really lovely or really crappy. Be prepared for anything. However the pools are heated so I swim whenever we go.

Haha it definitely is wear you live and what you're used to.... I'm definitely the kind of person who gets cold very easily, but I don't think I'd be wearing thick parkas at those temps! One of my coworkers recently visited her boyfriend in Australia and she said that when it rains, people just don't go out! No school, no work! Crazy to me here in Raincouver!! :lmao:

We're Aussies but when we go to Disney in November December the kids swim, I swam one day too although I'm not a huge fan of swimming but I had to say that I did it lol. It was fine.

^ Hahah me too, here it's the opposite! Get the heck outside while it's sunny (even in the middle of summer) because tomorrow it could rain!

I think you will know once you get there. I say that since you are on vacation - go for it!
