Hi all,

I posted this at the resorts forum too....I hope its okay to post it here as well.

We are going to Disney Nov 28-Dec 3 for the first time! We have a 4.5 yo and are from NJ. We are staying at the Poly and love pools, swimming, etc. Will we be able to take advantage of the pools at the Poly while we are there or will it be too cold? The Poly has 2 heated pools but I've heard mixed things about the weather. We are anticipating being able to swim but just wanted to "prepare ourselves" just in case we can't!

Thank you.

mary

I've been in Central FL at Thanksgiving time for the last 6 years, and we've had really warm weeks, and chilly ones. The afternoons can be really warm, definately warm enough for swimming in the heated pools, but the evenings get pretty chilly after the sun goes down. Plan on afternoon breaks for swimming and you should be ok.

Thanks for the info. DH and i will be at AKL Nov 28-Dec 6 and were wondering the same thing as the pools are usually a big deal with our kids who love to swim.

I can tell you last Dec we NEVER would have swam, it was FREEZING every morning, but you never know what the weather will be!

I know that it all depends on the type of weather you get while you are there. I've been in both late November and late December/early Jan. I have gotten in at least one swim each time I've gone during those months. When I was down there this past December the only reason I didn't swim more often was because we didn't have time.

But then again I'm from New England and I've been known to swim when it's only 60 degrees out in water that freezes your toes. :rotfl:

We went last year from the Sat after Thanksgiving thru the following Friday (Nov 26-Dec 2). On Sat, we arrived late, swimming wasn't a priority. Sun was great, we went swimming. This was our only day. The next day, kids just needed a nap, and it was pretty cloudy. Tues was rainy. Wed & Thurs it was too cold. I would suggest if swimming is important to you, do it as soon as you arrive if possible. Don't plan on definitely being able to swim though. I didn't even mention it to my DD until we got there, on the day of our swimming, and we had to get ready to go. The weather varies greatly around this time.

Hey, maryrm. Last one in the pool's a rotten egg! We'll be in there swimming in December even if we turn a little blue when we get out.

CAN you swim in the pools when you're going... yes. And some of us will, no matter what. And some of us will when dragged in or ridiculed by our eager offspring. Thank heavens for nearby hot tubs to thaw the frozen parents!

Will it be warm enough for a sane adult to want to swim... that's completely unpredictable for your time frame. It'll surely be warmer than New Jersey! But beyond that, a big maybe.
