My husband and I are going to be at WDW Nov 29-Dec 6. I plan on bringing a swimsuit. Is it even warm enough to swim that time of year? Are pools open? I noticed that last year the water parks were open that time of year. Does anyone have any information? I would really appreciate it! :flower:

Hi,

Pools are open (and heated). Usually one water park is closed for rehab in December, but the other is open.

The water will be fine, it's when you get out of the water that you'll feel it! It can get very chilly in December in Central Florida.

While it can be very cool outside this time of year the Disney resort pools are always steaming with heated water. The only cold you might experience is getting out and drying off, other than that the pools are warm. Do bring your swimsuit and at least give it a try. :wave2:

The answer to that question, IMO, is the dreaded "yes and no".

We were there this past December (middle of the month) and it was quite chilly (even for those of us from Ohio). However, in the middle of the day, with the sun out, it was comfortable enough to swim because of the heated pools.

We read that it was an unseasonably cool December last year, and that usually it is much warmer. So, the answer is that it should be ok to swim, but that it might be cool as well.

The pools are open and heated. Swimming can be hit or miss and depends on what you are used to. Us folks from the frozen tundra (I'm from Minnesota, but Canadians and Michiganers too) will swim in a heated pool when its 50 degrees, garnering strange looks from those from Texas. But sometimes its 85 and even the people from Texas hit the pools

Its worth hitting the record high and record low checkboxes. December record high is 90, record low is 20.

I find it totally delightful to swim in the resort pools at Night in WDW in December. The pools are heated, and it is just a very unique experience.
You can see steam rising from the water. It's just that when you get out of the pool, you might want to HURRY back to your room. :teeth:

Another "Yes and No" here to the OP. It really depends on what you're used to, climate-wise. We used to live in Massachusetts, and when we were in WDW in November, anything over 65-70 degrees was definitely swimming weather. Meanwhile, the CM lifeguards would sit there shivering, wondering to themselves about these crazy northerners. Now we live in a part of the country that makes WDW weather seem cool (we're often the "hot spot in the nation"). We don't swim here unless it's at least 85 degrees (a good part of the year). Now I sit there, shivering, while the crazy northerners swim in November.

Thank you everyone for all the quick responses!! :flower: :disrocks: It looks like I may be hitting the pool this winter!

Daisy 77, we were at WDW December 5-11 last year, and it was mid-80's every day, and we wore only shorts and teeshirts, even late at night. But the week before and the week after, daytime highs were only in the 60's. Your best bet is to check out an Orlando weather forecast just before you leave - that will tell you what the weather pattern is likely to be during your stay.

And even then pack both shorts and tshirts and jeans and sweatshirts. You wouldn't be the first WDW guests to be caught by an inaccurate forcast!

The weather is definetly changeable. On one trip, we had temperatures ranging from the low 40s (a VERY chilly Candlelight Processional) to the mid 80s, so be prepared clothing-wise. Except on the very cold days, there was usually someone in the pool.

The water's heated, so swimming is possible. I've taught swim classes year-round in Florida. Just pay attention to the wind chill. Sometimes it can surprise you.

We arrived on December 3 of last year. The first two days were absolutely frigid. Long pants and even hats at night! (Thank goodness for the Mickey Santa hats!) After that, however it was very warm and would have been appropriate to swim during the day, although it still got a bit chilly at night.

Too funny :)
We're from Texas, we're going to WDW at the same time as daisy_77 and we're going to try the pools.
