Swimming in December

When I was still in College, we used to go around the 2nd week in December. Some years it was warm enough to swim almost every day, some years it was cold alot. But the pools are heated, so if you really have your heart set on swimming, you probably won't get frostbite...it is FL after all!! ;)

As for the week after thanksgiving, the week we always go...I swam almost every day for the last two years. Probably not first thing in the morning or very late at night...but it is almost always warm enough for a little swimming!! :goodvibes

Probably Floridians would tell you no but the hearty stock from up here in Michigan (especially the kids) would say yes :lol That's the week we are going and my kids are planning on swimming no matter how cold it is.

Just remember that weather anywhere is unpredictable. I've been the week after Thanksgiving a few times and had temps range from low 90's to high 50's.

you can swim but its cool..once your in the pool its ok ,,its just getting in and out,,we have been there in dec,,jan,,andfeb,,if you can get out of the breeze you can tann but its cool as well..but it beats snow and a blizzard,,any time...

Is December weather anything like this past Easter/Spring weather? It was cold and not hot enough for swimming and I live up North.

It is possible to swim in December. Last January 7th myself and DD7 were in the pool during the afternoon. It was 80+ degrees that day. It really depends on the weather patterns. It might be below normal or above normal temperature wise.

Before you leave for your trip make sure to check the 10 day forcast on weather.com. That should give you a pretty good indication if swimming at the pool is in your future.

We were in WDW over Christmas 2006, and we were swimming the whole time.

We were just there this past Christmas and we did swim, it wasn't hot hot but warm enough to swim. We also swam with the dolphins one day at Discovery Cove and had to be there early in the morning I believe the temperature that day in the a.m. was like 49 brrrr. Thankfully the water was very warm. You just never know that time of year, be sure to watch the forecast a couple of weeks out from your vacation. You really have to pack for warm and cold weather when you go during winter. But I have to say the decorations were wonderful have a great trip.

As others have said, it depends on the weather. When we went in early Dec. 2001 it was 80 degrees. In early Dec. 2002 it was 55 degrees with a biting wind one day. The CMs were wearing parkas and mittens. We had light jackets! No way we went swimming that time.
Around NYE 2003 it was about 75--we considered that warm enough to swim, but at the contemporary late in the afternoon there is a point where a shadow covers parts of the pool--brrr! Then it's time to get out!
