Hi! This is my first post here.

We are planning a trip the begining of December and I am wondering if it will be too cold to swim at the hotel or use the water parks. My kids are small so I don't think they could handle really cold water.

Thanks!!

I'm wondering too. I think it's hit or miss in December though. The pools are heated so being in the pool would be OK. It's getting in and out that would be cold.

I agree with Prestonsmomma. The pools are heated to a comfortable temp however your dc might still get chilled if it's not warm out. We were at the Disneyland Resort Hotel in April and although the weather was nice -warm, not hot, but we unfortunately couldn't spend a lot of time in the pool because our ds got chilled so quickly. They kept the pool there nice & warm. We've been to WDW during Dec in the past and the weather was cool. We're from the NW so it's not like we aren't used to cooler temperatures.

ETA...fyi: I like to check the Accuweather.com several days in advance for the forcast. They also have records and averages you can look at to get an idea of what the weather is typically like during any given month.

Here's the Typical Weather for December

Normal High: 73°F
Normal Low: 53°F
Normal Average: 63°F

hth.

We swam in December 2004 everyday. Only had to wear jeans one day.
We will be there this Dec. and plan on swimming (heated pools) again. I don't know if I would spend the extra money for the water park though since the weather can be so unpredictable.

We were there in Dec. of 2003 and 2005. Both trips it was fairly cool the entire week. There were a few days that it probably was just warm enough to swim, but we never did. The air was still a little cool. The water is fine, but when you get out it is cool. Oh, and we are from PA and used to the cold weather and we thought it was too cold to swim.

The weather here in December is definitely hit or miss. I mean, I've gone to the beach in January before but a week earlier I may have been freezing in 30 degree temps. What happens here is that when the cold fronts come through, it may be really cold for a day or two but then it can get back up to 80 until another one comes through. You just never know. I definitely wouldn't plan a large portion of your trip around swimming though just in case.

Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful responses!! I was hoping the pools were heated. If it's warm we will swim. My oldest is a little fish. No water parks, I guess. Oh well. They are still young for a water park anyways.

We have been twice in the beginning of January and have swam both times. Only once was it very cold getting out of the pool. The rest of the time it was beautiful!!

Enjoy!

We were there in Feb. for 17 days. Only 2 days were not pool weather. There was a frost but within 48 hours it was pool weather. The Feb before was pool weather plus.

We went the first week of Dec. '04 and the weather was actually warm enough during the day to swim. At night it did get chilly and we could not believe the kids in the water, we figured they would be freezing. Our last night there we finally decided to feel the water for ourselves and it was heated!!! The water park that was open at that time of year had a lot of people getting off the bus for it, too!

We were at WDW over Thanksgiving week last year and it was too cold to swim in the morning and the evening. We were at the parks during the days so we didn't get the opportunity to swim during the day. Although, I don't remember it being warm enough to swim without getting a chill during the day either. Our kids did have to go in the pool one evening when we decided to come back to the resort a little early and they only lasted a few minutes.

We were there this past Christmas and swan quite a bit;) We actually went swimming on Christmas Day and it was GREAT!! The pools are heated so it was fine!
