We are heading down in a couple of weeks and I was just wondering if it is getting to cold at night to swim. I am trying to plan out the days there and am thinking I should plan for some time during the day to swim since it will be warmer. Any thoughts?;)

Really it is hit or miss with the weather. My thought is that is is better to swim during th eday than night, but really it varies. The pools are heated, or so they say:lmao: but I would plan a break in the afternoon and swim.

I went down in January for a conference in January (the Children's Pastor's Conference) at the coronado resort, and being goofy college kids we went swimming. We only were in the pool for a short time at night but we did spend much of one of our evenings in the hot tub. It was sprinkling for part of it, and yes pretty cold.... but we had a good time.

So it is do-able... just not ideal haha

I believe they are heated to 78 degrees. Now the air temp is entirely a different topic. Can you stand the temps after being submerged?:rolleyes1

I've been down in December several times now and it is truly hit or miss for me. One year is was 85° during the day and mid 60s at night, another time we were lucky if we got out of the 50s during the day and upper 20s at night. However, depending on your kids - I've seen the steam rolling off the water and been chilly with my jacket on and the kids are like little otters. They just don't seem to feel it. The hot tubs on the other hand are terrific and you can be in those when it's 50° and be fine as it takes a while for the heat to dissipate from you skin - just long enough for you to make it back to the warmth of the resort. Have a great time.

We were at the AKL Oct 22 - 26 and the pool was just delicious!!!:) We did most of our swimming at night time and the pool was warm and inviting, in fact you could feel the warm water being pumped in through the returns.

I think it is relative to where you come from. My Minnesota kids find the pool very comfortable even in January at DW, but they would probably swim in anything not covered with a sheet of ice:eek:

The water should be fine but you might want to take an extra towel for when you get out. I personally like to swim at night when it's a bit chilly...as long as it's not windy and a cool night is about the only time I like the hot tub.
