Swim vests at pool

Do you recommend the swim vests for a petite 6year old? DD has taken swim lessons and have swim with a full lifevests or puddle jumper,but wasn't sure if she will be comfortable with the plastic vests at the pool.should I pack her puddle jumper or just save room in suitcase? We are flying so may have room available

We chose to leave the puddle jumpers at home and use what was provided at the pool. I wanted to save space and also not worry about packing wet puddle jumpers on the way home. At POR, the main pool and the quiet pool had life jackets. We were able to find the sizes we needed easily.

Do they have the strap that goes through the legs?

Our YDD is super tiny and we have always been able to find a swim vest that fits her. No strap through the legs as far as I can remember.
