Are boys' swim shirts allowed at the water parks?
We were at a local water park this past weekend and the life guards would not allow swim shirts on water slides or the diving board. I had never thought about it not being ok until then so I thought I better find out before our trip.
Thanks.

DH wears a t shirt all day long when we go to TL and BB. Have done it about 10 times. Never been a problem for us.

I wore one in 2008.

I'm sure you can. I would have talked to management at the other park. I think the swim shirts (rash guards) are great. Keeps the kid's protected from the sun.

Yes, anyone can wear one. We have season passes and all wear swim shirts.

I would have said something too. Do they turn away girls who wear them? Our DD doesn't have a bathing suit. She only wears rash guards and the main reason for doing so is for the added sun protection.

My dd always wears one for better sun coverage. Did they let the girls wear them??

I bring mine as I go with my niece. Do I trust that a 4 yr old can cover my back with sunscreen, no!

Unless management has a good reason why one can't be worn, then I would wear it.

I have witnessed groups wearing full wet/dry suits in the water parks. My guess, without asking them, was they were Muslim and had to be covered. Since only the women in the group were wearing them. I do not mean to offend anyone by my previous statement, I apologize in advance if I do. :) So based on that experience I would say whatever type of covering you would want to use would be fine, as long as it has nothing vulgar or offensive. :thumbsup2

My son, husband, and I all wore swim shirts at Typhoon Lagoon.

Only stipulation at WDW that I know of is that there cannot be any metal on your suits -- no big grommets or decor, etc., that's metal.

What's the difference between a boy wearing a rash guard and a girl wearing a one-piece swimsuit? I too would talk to managment of the local water park and find out why this is not allowed as it seems like you could argue that it better protects anyone wearing it.

And like everyone else has said, rash guards are fine at Disney (and everywhere else IMO!).

Thanks for all your responses. I too was confused and couldn't figure out what the difference between a boy with a swim shirt vs a girl in a one piece or swim shirt was. We were only at the other pool for a couple hours so it wasn't worth it to me to question their policy. Glad to hear that we can use it at Disney.

Swim shirts are the best thing since Mickey Ice Cream bars when it comes to Florida sun!! It's so much easier to apply sunscreen to just the face and legs and not worry about that delicate torso skin that never sees sun in Oregon ;) !

I have had melanoma so I always wear a long sleeve rash guard swimming. I had no problems at either Disney waterpark. Twice at different Six Flags I have had a guy at the top of a slide say I could not go down in a shirt. I spoke to the management and they said rash guards are fine, just not T-shirts or similar. They really need better training for the lifeguards to know the difference between a swim shirt and a regular shirt. Both times the manager verified with the lifeguards that they were allowed.
