Sweet Sixteen on the Dream! The Good, the Bad, and the Crazy!

What a great trip report! Great pictures, and I'm so impressed at all the characters you ran into.

We're going on our first cruise next June, also a 5-nighter. Can't wait!

PS--Congrats on your weight loss! Awesome!

Those disposable cameras didn't do too bad! Looks like y'all had fun relaxing on the floats!!

Thank you! I checked on DCL for next June, and it's too expensive for me! It was about $6000 for a 5 nighter! But we are definately wanting to go on another Disney cruise sometime in the future!!

Yeah, we had a great time! Even with those disposable cameras not coming out perfect, I'm glad I didn't invest in an expensive underwater camera just for this trip, since our excursions got cancelled! So I was happy with what we ended up with!

I can't wait to get me a non alcoholic beverage! It looks yummy.

I walked around some more by myself and came across.................

Daisy Duck!

She an Donald were getting ready to begin their dance party, but I didn't stick around this time. I walked around some more enjoying taking pics and some alone time.

Some pics I took along the way:

After taking lots of pics, I decided to find me a spot to relax.........:cloud9:

After some enjoyable time on the hammock, I made my way to where we would meet back up to get back on the ship. I was waiting on DD and decided to get me some ice cream because it was really hot. Instead of using the ice cream cones, I always put my ice cream in the drink cups. Well, I think I ate a little too much, thinking it would cool me off, but instead, it made me a little nauseated. So I just sat & waited, hoping DD would hurry because it was hot and I didn't feel too well.

Too much ice cream + hot weather =

After a few more minutes, DD showed up to meet me and we headed back to the ship. Here's a few pics as we got ready to board the ship:

As we headed to the room, we came across one of my favorite spots of art work.

DisneyDream2011825-1.jpg

Since this would be the last night of the cruise, I knew I had lots of packing to do, and DD wanted to meet back up shortly with the teens at Vibe. And with me not feeling too great, we decided to skip dinner, and just go to the show. The last show was "Believe". I would say it was "OK". If anyone has seen "Dreams" on the Wonder, I liked it a lot better. I didn't get any pics of the show, but after the show, I met Rachael!! (you'll have to excuse my looks tonight, because I just got ready & pulled my hair up, since I still had that sick feeling)

DisneyDream2011826-1.jpg

So after the show, I told DD to go ahead to Vibe, that I had lots of last minute packing to do and get it outside the door by 10:30pm.

Other than the packing, I didn't really do much that night. The rocking of the boat was kinda rough that night, too. So I walked out onto the deck to see why we were rocking so much. The waves were pretty rough, but not too bad.

DD came back, and we went to bed, thinking of how sad it was, that we were going to be leaving the ship early in the morning :sad1:

The next morning, we got the rest of our stuff together and went to breakfast. Debarkation was so easy! The atrium was not crowded at all, and we stopped to take a few pictures before leaving:

Sorry I don't have more pics of the last night, but with the last minute packing, having the yucky feeling, etc., I was just feeling "blah" :crazy2:

I will add more thoughts along the way, but did want to add that on the last night I did go to "Till We Meet Again". It was wonderful (and sad), but again, no pics. I got a lot of it on my camcorder for DD since she would miss it.

Also, right after that, I went to Shutters to get our pictures at the last minute. BIG mistake . It is a mad house at Shutters on the last night, with everyone trying to get in there at the last minute. And the space is so small, I don't understand why they didn't make that area a lot bigger!

I'll remember next time to get my pictures earlier!!

I'll have some final thoughts, etc. soon, but I'm not finished, so don't leave me yet!! ;)

Including:

Why did we have stay an extra day??????????

Atlanta: Round 2 and meeting up with a Dis'er friend!

I can't believe the cruise is over!:sad1: I have so enjoyed reading every minute of it though!!:thumbsup2

You got some really good pics on CC!!

I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well after the ice cream! Stinks to not have felt well on the last night!:sad2:

Those pics of the atrium are amazing, and I LOVE the chandelier...I think that's my most favorite part of the ship!

I can't wait to read the rest!

:worship: Thank you for steering me to your trip report! I would love to read a trip report from your newly minted 16 year old, gorgeous daughter! It would be so nice to be able to show that to my soon to be 16 year old daughter.

Our ship will be the Magic...this is our 2nd cruise, but the first was like 4 1/2 years ago, the kids' much younger, only 3 days, and I don't remember the details like you wrote up! I have a lot of questions now but think I'll start another thread so I don't gunk yours up.

A couple things I wanted to ask you: 1. is the POC ship gone? I didn't see it in any of your pictures so I am thinking it is. It was there for us and I am so glad I took so many pictures of it if it's gone. 2. What is a FE group?????

And your food pictures made me hungry!! popcorn:: Thank you again, Cindy

Thanks for joining in!!!!

Yes, the ship is gone. It was there when we went in 2009, but I think they took it down last year (can't remember exactly when or why, though).

The FE group is a fun activity! You go to the meet thread and find your cruise dates. Then find out who all wants to join the FE group, and who will lead the group. The group gives little gifts throughout the cruise, to fellow Dis'ers who are on the same cruise. You can buy a "holder" (fish extender) for the gifts or you can make your own. There are a few FE threads that can probably explain it better than I can. As the cruise gets closer, the group leader will send an email out of everyone's names and room #'s. While you're on the cruise, you can choose what day & time, but everyone delivers their gifts to each stateroom. Some people are very crafty and make gifts, but some people buy gifts. For example, I am NOT crafty at all, so on this cruise and our 2009 one, I bought the FE (fish extender) and I bought lots of little goodies and made "loot bags" for everyone. It is so much fun! But again, you can find more threads on FE's, how to make them, how it works, etc...

After our fun time in the water, we decided it was drink time!! I had a non-alcoholic pina colada
(I know, I'm a party-pooper :lmao: ) , and she had some kind of non-alcoholic fruity drink.

Love the round drink cup. Don't suppose that is one of those you pay for it you keep it cups? :)

I haven't even made it on the ship and I am not looking forward to getting off at the end. I have enjoyed your TR, thanks for writing!

Yeah, it's pretty sad leaving, but we had plans to go to DTD before leaving, so I'm not done yet! I wanted to have a little something extra planned because leaving straight from the cruise to go home would be too sad! More craziness coming up!

great trip report. Luvin the birthday minnie's

Thank you!!

Great pictures from CC. I'm so sorry you ended up feeling icky your last evening. Hope you recovered well the next morning (even though you did have to get off the ship).

Looking forward to reading your final thoughts.

What an absolute bummer to feel sick on the last day :( I can't believe the cruise is over, this has been a fabulous TR! Can't wait for more. I love the pictures of the ship up close.

We gathered our luggage and went outside to wait on our shuttle bus to take us back to Country Inn & Suites. Again, their service was great! We only had to wait about 5 minutes for the bus.

We loaded the car up, and planned to go to DTD for a while, since the Amtrak wasn't scheduled to leave until about 7pm.

After an hour drive to DTD from the Port, we decided to get a quick early lunch at McDonald's. While there, we ran into one of the Dis'ers that was in our meet group! We had a great time, talking about the crusie, and how we always ran into each other. They were also going to DTD but they were staying a few more days at WDW.

With the Dis meets at MK, at our hotel, and on the cruise, we got to know a lot of great Dis'ers!

After lunch, we went on to DTD for a little shopping and hanging out for a while. Well, about halfway through the day, it came up a HUGE rainstorm! We were running from store to store, trying to make our way back up to the parking area. Well, it just got worse, so we just stayed inside for a little bit. We were watching out the doors, and people's umbrellas were flipping inside-out, it was raining so bad.

We weren't making much progress trying to get out of there. We were drenched and my purse was soaked, so we bought a cute WDW umbrella and I got an extra plastic bag from the CM and dumped everything out of my soaked purse into it.

We made it into Goofy's Candy, and shopped a little bit waiting for the rain to let up, enough to get to the car. As I was walking around, I heard someone call my name..... I was looking around expecting to see a Dis'er, but it was my cousin and her kids!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I didn't even know they were going to WDW. I was just shocked. We ran up to each other, soaked, and hugged and laughed. :lmao:

We just had to take some pics together, soaked and all!

DisneyDream2011851-1.jpg

So here's the crazy part (if that wasn't enough):rotfl:

We finally made it to the car, as the rain was letting up some. It was getting very close to Amtrak departure time. On our trip down there, it stated that we had to be there 30 minutes early to check in and get our luggage checked in. Well, we were barely pushing it trying to make it out of the storm, to get to Amtrak on time. It was around a little after 6pm, so I figured if I hurried, we could get there in time, because it would take about 15 minutes to get there. Well, to be on the safe side, I called Amtrak and asked what was the VERY LATESET we could get there because we got caught in the rain. This lady said we should have been there an HOUR before departure. I told her that on the trip down there, that it stated 30 minutes early, and of course she said no, it's an hour.

So you know what that means, we "missed" our train!!!!!! :scared1:
