Sweet Deal

Hershey’s has a deal with appeal to your sweet tooth and
your urge to travel. Their Soar & save promotion runs
through January 31, 2001 for travel through March 2002.
It can bring you up to $150 in savings on Southwest
Airlines. You can use the savings for any fare — there is
no minimum fare amount. If you don’t need the entire
$150 amount for your low-fare Southwest ticket, you’ll
get a voucher covering the remaining amount.
Just save wrappers or UPCs from included 1.4- to
3.5-ounce candy bars (Hershey’s Chocolate Bar — with
and without almonds; Kit Kat; Heath; Reese’s Peanut
Butter Cups, Peanut Butter Sticks and Cookie Cups;
Mounds; Almond Joy; Payday; Peppermint Patties; Rolo;
Twizzler; and Caramello).
Fifty wrappers (or UPCs) earns a certificate valid for
$10 off a one-way ticket or $25 off a roundtrip. Save 275
wrappers and you receive a certificate valid for $150 in
savings on the ticket)s) of your choice.
Mail your wrappers/UPCs to Hershey’s/Southwest
Certificate Offer, P.O. Box 3019, Rodgers, MN
55374-3019 to arrive by January 31, 2001.
There is a limit of one certificate per ticket. Certificates
are transferrable.
If you purchase standard-size bars at a discount food
store, you should be able to get them for about 25-cents
each. Your 275 wrappers would cost $68.75 (or even
less, if you shop carefully). This is a great deal, giving you
more airfare value than the cost of the product — and the
product is frequently purchased and often used.
If you remove the UPC codes carefully, you could
even use this deal for stocking up on candy for Halloween
trick-or-treat, Halloween parties and other treat
occasions. With 16 months of promotion purchase time
ahead of you, it won’t be hard to accumulate sufficient
wrappers/UPCs for the $150 savings. To make the deal
even more attractive, the $150 discount comes in “gift
certificate” form, meaning that you can use it for travel any
day of the year — there are no blackout dates.

thought you might find this intesting,

I was trying to find some additional information on this. I didn't see anything on Hershey's web site or Southwest. Do you know where I can find out any other details? My DH is quite the skeptic when it comes to things like this, but it sounds like a great deal!!

Do you have to have a mail-in certificate to send with your wrappers? If so, where do I get one?

Hey Falls1 - I am assuming that you are from Niagara Falls and heard the promotion for this on a local radio program. That's where I heard it from and I bought enough chocolate for 1 voucher. I am planning on sending out my wrappers tomorrow - I too am a little nervous about this as I checked out southwest and hersheys and didn't see anything. I really hope that this is for real and will let everyone know how it turns out. Someone that my husband works with said that he saw the promotion on a hershey bar awhile ago. -- Also, I hope I can give all this candy away - I don't think I can look at another candy bar!

Hey, Falls1-If the wrappers are due by the end of Jan 2001 doesn't that mean that you only have 4 months to accumulate wrappers, not 16 months? I love chocolate and if I can find some more info on this deal I'll start indulging now!

Here is the site I pulled the information from. I plan on saving as many wrappers as possible and sending them in using this site with my wrappers..http://abcnews.go.com/sections/travel/Economyclass/econ.html......This is the best I can do to answer your inquiries..

I don't think that the discount could be applied to the internet sale fares since you can't even use credits from a prepaid ticket to pay for those fares. Those Internet Sale fares are absolutely the best deal, not that I mind an excuse to buy chocolate!

hi charlene i am also from the buffalo area. could you please e-mail me and tell me how much you paid per bar and what store did you get them at? thanks in advance. artwall1@aol.com i want to do this asap times 6!

Hey Guys! My father heard this on the radio too! He was just about jumping up and down with happiness! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We seached Hershey site and did find a Q and A forum and soemone had asked about the promotion and it looks like it was in a newspaper ad. There was a number for Hershey that you can call to get all the info....1-800—468-1714

I called and was told no "special" order form was needed. Just send all UPC or wrappers to the address with a 3x5 card with my info and in 6 to 8 weeks I would have my certificates.

I was also told that it was only good for one per person --so I plan to send in one each for the whole family!

Hope this help!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I am totally skeptical on this, although I'll be calling that 800 number!! If I can get the info by calling, you bet, I'll run right out and buy my 1100 candy bars LOL I need 4 tickets, and sometimes they are as little as 150 round trip.... If this pans out I'll be doing that Disney happy dance til the end of the year!!!

WOOHOO!!! Now I'll have to find a store that sells them for 4 or 5 for a dollar... I'll go to the dollar store first LOL....

I called the 800# and they gave me all of the specifics, exactly as originally posted (thanks O.P.). You do not need the redemption form, and index card will work just fine! I can't believe I am going to buy more candy just before Halloween!!!!

Does the 800# tell you where you need to call to purchase your tickets? Is it southwest airlines directly?

at the southwest airlines site it says gift certificates can only be used at the southwest airline ticket counter. I got 6 twizzlers for $1 so I don't care!!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Anyway, it still is a good deal if you can find the candy cheap!

In case anyone had forgotten, the dead line is coming up quick!! Don't forget about this one! Gerri

I'm ready to send in my 275 wrappers. Just this weekend cut off the upc or whatever they are called from the wrappers. My husband only has 2 more bars to go. He's set for a while, I ended up cutting the symbols off of hersey milk chocolate bars, and the rest of the bar stays wrapped.
