I am planning my 16th birthday party and want it to be affordable and outdoorsy- It will be last week in October which is when it starts getting a little chilly maybe 50 degrees at night any ideas would be greatly appreciated

TIA

What about a bon-fire type party. Roast hot dogs, marshmellows, maybe a hay ride??

We went to a "redneck" sweet 16th birthday in July. It was great because they didn't have to worry about anything such as fancy decorations or invitations. Nothing had to match.

They had it in their back yard. Being in July they were able to swim. They also had a bon fire. It was a typical hot dog and hamburger menu. For decorations the mom went to the Goodwill and bought old undies and nighties -- rubbed them in the dirt and hung them up around the picnic area.

They also rented a bounce machine--gotta watch the weight limits, popcorn and cotton candy machines. It was really cool and a lot of fun.

That screams "halloween" theme to me. Maybe a costume party?

In addition to the bonfire and marshmallow/ hot dog roast idea, decorate (outdoors) with straw bales for seating, sunflowers and pumpkins. Use clear Christmas lights and make luminaries. Use pumpkin patches and country fairs for fun game inspirations, like bean bag toss, pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples etc.

Our D wanted a bonfire...we held it at the beach, but a firepit would work (and it would make the whole thing a lot easier). We had chips/salsa/cheddar popcorn, hot dog roast, then s'mores with roasted marshmellows. I had small sand pails that I filled with misc candies (carmels, salt water taffy, etc). Ice cream cake for the birthday cake (don't do this at the beach--even with dry ice, it was melty). Everyone had a great time!

for my daughter's sweet 16 party we rented a bounce house for the outside and did a mardi gras theme. you can get the beads, rubber duckies dressed with masks and beads, decorations etc... through oriental trading. The teenagers loved the beads and bounce house. have fun

Halloween certainly fits here. Maybe tweak it to fit her style a bit. Nightmare before Christmas, Disney Princesses (or Shrek style:thumbsup2 princesses), or Pirates or go further... A harvest hoedown with bobbing for apples and pumpkin carving. If she likes to ski or snowboard...maybe a pray for snow theme. Show ski flicks and serve typical apres food and drinks.

I have a DS, so ours was different. We had several kids bring their Xboxes and hooked them up to the projector. The kids loved the big screen action. They also played pool and air hockey. We ordered a bunch of pizza and had soda and chips with it. Boys are so easy!:goodvibes

For my daughter's sweet 16 party, which was last Feb, I had a scavenger hunt for her and her friends. I made a list of funny stuff around town for them to get and the one who brought back the most stuff by a certain time won a gift certificate to a local restaurant. I think they had a lot of fun!

My DD's Sweet 16 is today. She has been going to so many Sweet 16 parties she wanted hers more low key with her best friends. Over the weekend we took her and 4 girls out for dinner at her favorite restaurant, a habatchi place. Then they went and played late-night lazer tag before coming home for a sleepover and made virgin daquiris, had lots of candy and stuff and they stayed up all night. The next evening they went to a haunted house. We had offered to do more like her 13th birthday which as a hotel sleepover, but she was happy with her dinner out and lazer tag.

My younger DD's sweet 16 is a little over a year away, but I have already started planning hers. She originally wanted a dance type party where the girls get really dressed up (as in formal wear).

Well I offered an alternative which was very well received by her. I offered a 4 night cruise on the Dream with a friend (hopefully her BFF!). I was hoping her actual Bday would be our CC day, but it will be our at sea day...

We will still have an actual party for her, just scaled back. She's aways wanted a costume party since her Bday is just 2 days after Halloween. So we are thinking about a pirate and princess theme party. Best part would be, she could use her costume for her Bday party, a MNSSHP and the pirate party on the cruise.

It's going to take a LOT of planning as we want to have the party a week before we leave, but I'm hoping for some great memories for her! The last 2 years she has spent her Bday in WDW, but this year's 15th will be spent here at home.

Good luck with your plannimg...I'm sure whatever you decide, it will be awesome!!

I love your idea for a Harverst Hoedown!!! Especially if she keeps to the theme with decorations, music, and activities. The kids can actually even dress up for Halloween, "country" style.

I am also in the planning stages of my DD's 16th Birthday Celebration. She also opted for a more exlcusive intimate experience for her close friends rather than a party for tons of people she isnt really close with.

We are taking her and 4 friends to the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando for the weekend. We have club level rooms reserved, A cabana at the pool for one day and park passes for the second day. Birthday Dinner will be at the Hard Rock Cafe at City Walk.

Im sure it will cost as much as a big party would have but with much less hassles.
