Alright, in just a little over 4 months I will be turning 16. I am at a loss for what I want to do for it.

My Mom suggested renting out our local community center and hiring a DJ but, to make it worth doing, I'd probably have to invite 30 or more people. I don't want to make this HUGE ya know. ;) I just want my friends and some of my family to be with me to make this memorable.

Then, she suggested renting a limo that would pick me and some friends up and take us out to eat (we would all so get really dressed-up). I got to thinking about it...and while it is a great idea....I'd rather not do this. I just know that everyone won't want to dress-up and it just doens't seem right for this occasion. :confused3

For my last 2 birthdays I had pool parties followed by dancing and hanging out at my house. We really went into the Luau thing last year. :hippie:

I was wondering if any of y'all have any good ideas for what I could do...for as you can see I am at a loss....:guilty:

I felt the same way earlier this year. It was also my sweet sixteen and I also felt as if I didn't want anything Huge, nor did a limo seem right, nor many other things that my mother suggested. I ended up having the party that i always enjoy having...Just a house party with my friends and family. I had alot of fun and it was exactly what i wanted and more. I have never liked big parties and had been to many parties that had limos or went someplace, but that really didnt feel like 'me.' Anyways, I had a house party with friends from school, and family, and a few girls spent the night, and to me it seemed much more fun then anything suggested.

Any concerts coming into town? If so maybe you could invite a few friends and or family members.

I like Tink-A-Boo's idea.
That would be fun.

I can't really help you, because I don't plan on celebrating my 16th, unless my friend plan to behind my back.

hmm, I can say I'm almost in a similiar situation. Less than two months away I will be 16, but I think if I do anything it wowuld just be a house/pool party. I means the msot fun you can probably have is somewhere that you are comfortable at. Thats my thing anyways I'd rather have a aprty somewhere where I'm comfortable, and if you don't want it to be big maybe a house party is all you need. Nothing wrng with those!

Hmmm. The limo idea is really cool, we did that for my 13th. It can be really fun, especially if you get a huge one with the flashing lights and loud music inside. I had that.

I also agree with the concert thing, that would be awesome. My sweet sixteen is in October, and I'm going to Disney World with my mom, just for a girls trip. It really doesn't matter where you are or what you do, as long as you're with people you love and you're having fun. So yeah, have a great time! And happy early birthday! :cheer2:

I am going swimming with the dolphins, And Disney of course. =)

Lets see, for my 16th b-day I had a bunch of friends over and we all made pizza. We then went to the movies and saw Oceans 12, and then we came back to my house where we made gingerbread houses (my b-day is in Dec). They all slept over and it was a ton of fun. Just being with them was fun.

You don't have to do anything over the top to make something enjoyable. Heck, some of my best times happened in the bonus room with friends.

Good luck in deciding what to do.

Thanks for all the suggestions, y'all!

I did really like the concert idea and I had already discussed it with my mom but, last week she looked and saw that there is no-one coming near us (that I want to see).

I may wind up just having a house party......the only thing is that, I have already thrown a bunch of those so...I will definitely have to figure out a way to make it unique and special for my 16th. This birthday means allot to me....so...I just wanted to make it really special.

Ideas are still welcome since I am still deciding! Thank y'all so much for your ideas! :grouphug:

Edited sorry didn't read all of your first post, lol!

Keep us updated on what your going to do for sure, Sarah.

For my 16 I just had some people over at my house. It was tons of fun just hanging out with the people I love. It was in March so the whole pool thing was out of the question but it seems like a fun idea for you.

As long as you have the people you care about close to you, it won't matter how lavish the party is.

the getting a limo and getting all dressed up idea would be super fun.
you could have like a photoshoot and everything in your fancy clothes.

that would be cool.

my sweet 16 was kinda lame, but it was fun. 5 friends & i went to a chinese buffet and then just chilled at my house for a while.
it wasnt a big party at all, but i still had fun. :goodvibes

i hope you have fun!
and DONT get any ideas from 'my super sweet sixtenn'...unless you win the lotto :D

I went to Disney with my mom and my best friend we also went on the Disney Cruise. It was sooo much fun!! My mom got a suite at the wilderness lodge and my friend and I got the bedroom to ourselves while my mom took the living room. It was the best birthday I ever had and it was only with my mom and my best friend whom I have been friends with pretty much my entire life. So what about choosing only a couple of really really close friends and bringing them somewhere, maybe only for just a night. like rent a hotel suite somewhere and stay there for a night or 2.

Jessie, I promise to keep y'all updated! I still haven't exactly made up my mind yet so....I'm still workin on it! :surfweb:

Thank you all for sharing! I love hearing what y'all have done in the past for y'all's 16th bdays! :grouphug:
