Over here in UK we get the Jay Leno show (a day late, but still entertaining). I thought California was a hot part of the US, and TV studios with all the lights would be quite warm wherever they are, so why does the band wear thick wooly sweaters so often?

Southern California can get chilly in the winter -- when I was in San Diego in January one year it was definately cold enough for sweaters. Not hats and gloves and scarves like it is where I live in January, but chilly enough for a wooly sweater.

As far as why they are wearing sweaters in the studio, not sure! But I'm a fan of the Letterman show, and I know he likes it really cold in his studio, they often joke about it. Perhaps Jay is the same way.

I don't watch Leno so can't really say why they'd wear them under hot lights...maybe its very cold in the studio? Or maybe they just like the looks.

I did grow up in Southern California and it really does get chilly there. Of course, to me then chilly meant it dipped below 70. LOL! But it does get much cooler in the wintertime. Down in the 50s and more likely 60s, colder at night. I didn't own a heavy coat, but did like a nice sweater and a light jacket. I remember some winter mornings even wearing gloves! Its all relative, right?

I imagine it would be much too warm.

But, all the soap opera stars and other show hosts like regis and kelly wear them too.

I think they are just trying to be seasonal and dress in the fashions of the season.

I live in what is considered a little inland of California Central Coast/ very.. south of SF.... but Girlfriend.. I am COLD today..... I have TWO SWEATERS on at this very moment:wave2:

I have been CLIMATIZED!!!
LOL.. grew up in Illinois and the military moved us out to CA. My midwestern friends LOL when I tell them it is COLD outside.. How cold? they ask...... my reply 60 degrees!!... I break out the heavy sweaters and jackets:earseek:

As a family we enjoy "going up to the snow" which can be seen on the surrounding mountain ranges. My dh says this is the only way he really enjoys snow..... just seeing it up on the peaks is fine with him!:teeth:

Happy Holidays!
