Hey! So I was thinking, why in the world do people need to cuss in Disney? Do you not notice the children around you? It even made my mom uncomfortable when some lady was talking to her using profanity. I just don't get it.

Because a lot of people are that way in real life.

It's not as if you need references from character witnesses before you can enter.

Some people swear out of habit - there are some people who I don't think they are aware they are swearing.

I'm probably one of those people. I tend to have a bit of a potty mouth. When I'm at Disney I do try to be more careful, but occasioanly I'll let one out without even realizing it.

I admittedly have a potty mouth. I try really hard to be conscious of what I'm saying at Disney but I do slip up.

It's not just at Disney. I was in the grocery store and wanted to ask a guy who was just walking through the aisle with another person to watch his language. Some people just don't care or it is their normal way of speaking.

Me, too. My husband gets so annoyed at me, but I don't even realize I'm doing it. I work around men and it just comes with the territory of my natural cadence now. Once I'm made aware, I can usually not curse for an entire day.

I try to watch myself at Disney but it's part of my vocabulary so sometimes I slip up. I don't think it's anything to get up in arms over.

Kids copy how their parents talk. My DW is a preschool teacher and a few years back she had a girl who's mouth would embarrass both a construction worker and a truck driver at the same time. She spoke to the parents and they didn't care.

Cursing doesn't have the negative stigma to some as others. I'd rather be around people who curse than people who can't MYOB.

What does working with men have anything to do with how you talk? Women swear too...

I gotta admit that swearing is pretty normal around here. I swear quite a bit and don't even realize that I am doing it most of the time. My DH and both kids swear too. I wasn't even aware that it would bother people who overheard us. It would never occur to me to try and talk differently when I am on vacation.

Hey, so - well I swear at home so of course I'm gonna swear at Disney!

I'm gonna keep it check like I always do in public!

I think that some people just don't think about it and then there are others who don't care about others. I can see not thinking about it if it's a habit but I don't believe that that is why most people curse in public. Courtesy is rare nowadays.

there are a few words that I consider more nasty than others and I don't say those and don't like hearing them said around anybody, especially kids. But your run of the mill curse words I have no problem and say them at home or at Disney. Kids can be told those are adult words and most kids other than maybe sheltered pre schoolers have heard everything and probably worse than you will hear at Disney.

This.

Op, while sweating made your mom uncomfortable it is also likely that during your vacation she unintentionally did something that made someone else uncomfortable.

I think there are some people who can sense their surroundings and flip a switch. There are others who simply can't.

I work in an office. If I started swearing regularly I'd probably find myself out of a job. I'm guessing that's similar for most people, who can control themselves given the surroundings.

Occasionally I will find myself watching a game on my TV saying something I wouldn't want my kid to hear. However, if I'm at a game in person or watching at a public place, there's almost no chance you'd hear the same utterances. I'm guessing a lot of people can flip a switch when in public, but choose not to when they don't believe they'll get in trouble for it.

It's called a lack of common courtesy for fellow park visitors.

Believe it or not there are actually people who don't curse, and would prefer not to hear other people use foul language. In the good ole days it used to considered bad manners to curse in public. Not so much today.

Believe it or not, some people aren't so uptight about it. And it has exactly nothing to do with common courtesy.
