Hi All,

A quick question. I have a reservation upcoming and have used my 2008 points. However I have 60 Developer points that I need to use. Can I 'swap' the points used on the reservation and return my 2008 points to my inventory?

PS - I am not inside any of the cancellation penalty windows.

Maybe.... is the best answer I can give without more information. When and where is the trip? Where are the developer points from and when?

The simple answer is you can't just "swap"...what you are technically doing is cancelling part of your reservation and then rebooking it, which means you can only rebook it if its available, otherwise you would have to go on the waitlist. Additionally, I assume there are some limitations to developer points, home resort, booking windows, use by dates etc. I don't have any personal experience using them, I always took the "credit" when we bought.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.:flower3:

You can only use the Developer points 7 months out. And the room you need would have to be currently available to book. You can't just swap out the points. That would defeat the 11 month/7 month advantage.

I was able to do this on two reservations originally booked inside the 7 month window. (This is important as developer's points have no home resort advantage anywhere.) The swap was just a bit painful, had to be completed "manually" and took about 10 business days to complete. It worked -- but I was nail biting the entire time.

When I called to do the "swap" I just asked them to reallocate the points that I had used..There was no cancelling involved according to the CM I was on the phone with.. Just an FYI.. She said they do it diff. if you specifically ask them to reallocate the points. I found this out the previous day when I called and spoke to a CM...But had to call back the next day for the seven month window..................

If the original reservation was made inside the 7-month window, then I believe they can just swap the points.

If the original reservation was made outside of the 7-month window, then I believe it requires a cancellation and rebooking, based on availability. If they did it any other way, then effectively they'd be allowing to use developer points to make reservations at 11-months.

Deb's statement was what is supposed to happen. They actually can do it either way. It's likely those days were available to book when you called and that's why they did it rather than boring you with the details.

The short answer is yes, it can be done (and we've done it).

How it's done may/will depend on the specific details of your particular reservation.

Good Luck!
