Swap Le Cellier for Flying Fish?

Just because I love to second guess myself, I've been reading a number of less than favorable reviews of Le Cellier's new signature dinner service. We currently have a 7pm reservation, with hopes of catching at least some of Illuminations afterwards. I noticed there is availability at Flying Fish that same night from 7:30pm on. We have not been to Le Cellier since it switched to a signature restaurant which is the reason we booked it this trip. We loved Flying Fish in November, so I know that it is outstanding. We are travelling with 4 people who have not been to either restaurant and are leaving things up to me. My gut instinct is to cancel Le Cellier and book Flying Fish, knowing that we may miss Illuminations (we've all seen it many times, so it wouldn't be the end of the world).

Thoughts?

Flying Fish is FANTASTIC! I would book that for sure!! You won't be disappointed!! Our meal was really good there and we can't wait to go back!!

We like to go mini golfing afterwards, or enjoy the boardwalk :)

I vote Flying Fish!!

((ps... i've had 2 really bad le cellier experiences))

Le Cellier is blah! I didnt have a good meal there last year.....it kinda makes me laugh that its a 2 TS restaurant for dinner! HAHAHAHAHAHA. But thats just my opinion. i've tried it and didnt like it.

I would book flying fish. But always go with your gut.

I think both Le Cellier and Flying Fish are good Disney restaurants. I've had 3 good dinners at Le Cellier with the new menu, so the number of negative reviews is surprising to me. That said, I think Flying Fish is slightly better - the food doesn't wow me too much at FF, but it is executed well.

i've never had a bad meal or bad service at flying fish. we're booked there again this winter. we've eaten twice at le cellier and like it but also give the edge to flying fish for atmosphere, service, and food quality. imo le cellier is good and it's nice when you don't want to leave the park but i find even with an adr you wait way past your reservation time. i just like flying fish better.

LC was pretty awful when it was a 1TS restaurant for dinner. I haven't heard enough good things about it to get me to give it another try yet. FF is one of our favorite restaurants on property.

We love playing a round of mini golf before dinner. Then after dinner we enjoy the Boardwalk and spend the night in Jelly Rolls. Even though we don't have kids, we still call it our "date night". :thumbsup2

YES YES YES !!! Cancel LeCellier !! You're going to love Flying Fish.... the atmosphere is wonderful, fun, and light. The food is to die for. The potato crusted red snapper is lick your plate GOOD !!!! :yay:

I'd cancel Le Cellier in a heartbeat...my last meal there was soo salty it was almost inedible.:scared1:
Flying Fish is my absoulute fave!!!!

I haven't been to le cellier as a 2 TS but I can't imagine it getting that much better to compare to flying fish. I would book flying fish, but then you will probably miss illuminations. are you okay with doing that is really the question? If you are, then I would choose FF. I love FF, its one of my 2 favorite signatures in Disney. We'll be dining there in 2 weeks, can't wait! & I have 2 reservations for November! I'm actually thinking of cancelling the lunch reservations that I have at Le Cellier for November.

You sound like you're in the same boat I'm in! I'm trying to decide on LeCellier supper or Yauchsman Steakhouse. I love LeCellier & wanted it at lunchtime but there were no times available. Instead I found a suppertime on the night we planned on eating at Y. Steakhouse.

I've never tried Flying Fish but because of the great reviews we are booked for supper there in Dec. However, if I had to give up my LeCellier time to eat there...ugh...I'm like you it just gets tough to decide! That steak, the cheese soup & the choc. moose are awesome I think!

Good luck deciding...I'm sure either one will be great!

Okay, Flying Fish it is! I got a 7:40pm reservation for a party of 6 during free dining in August, woo hoo!!!

Good for you! I, too, was going to suggest that you do just that.

Just a suggestion: If it's still on the menu, the mussels appetizer in the pesto crema is freaking fantastic. If you like mussels, I can't recommend it enough. Great stuff.

I am going through the exact same thing...we have not been to LC in years and now that its a signature we would like to try it but the recent reviews are not good at all...

LC was horrible, food and service. My risotto was so salty it was inedible. My dd's plain pasta was swimming in olive oil. Every bite she took there was olive oil dripping off it. She was so hungry she ate it anyway, but it was nasty. I can honestly say I doubt we'll give them another try esp now that they are 2 TS.

We love Flying Fish! We went last week, then we went back on Tuesday. :goodvibes

We were supposed to have Dinner with an Imagineer, but somehow they confirmed us for a night when there was NO Imagineer. :headache: Luckily we caught it so we were disappointed ahead of time instead of the day of.

Anyway, we booked a regular ADR to go to dinner a second time. It is always delicious, even without an Imagineer.

I recommend the mussels too, they are SOO good. Plus the mozzerella & tomato app is out of this world. I know its simple but they make it so good, one of the best I've had except for a restaurant in the Bellagio in Vegas.
Their steak is also very very good, one of the best on property, if you had wanted steak since you were debating going to LC.

Our last stay at the Boardwalk, we tried FF early in the week, and liked it so much, we cancelled something else to go again at the end of the week. This November we booked twice in advance. :) Plus in our last minute 4th of July weekend trip at the Contemporary, we're going to cab it over to the FF one night. It's that good.
