Swan with Dis discount?

Hi everyone, just a few quick questions, we are planning an unplanned trip...lol.. next week.. My questions are.. I saw the Swan and Dolphin discounts for dis'ers... 139.00 a night standard.. was wondering.. I don't see any counter service restaurants for the swan.. is there one... I saw the pool grill menu @ Deb's site and a cheeseburger is $9.00 while at the other hotels it is 6.00... anyway.. that is not that important.. I am thinking of buying new ap's and trying to get discount at the akl...
That is not the only reason we buy ap's we usually travel.. 2 or 3 times per year and am kicking myself in the bottom for not buying them last time ( was there in February ). I am not sure if I can get the resort discount on such short notice. Also, and my biggest concern is, Do you think I will not feel that Disney Magic of staying onsite if I stay at the Swan... what do you guys think? TIA

Where did you get the information on the rate of 139.00? I would like to look into that. We stayed at swan last year and because it is in the boardwalk area, you still feel a part of disney. We ate at the dolphin fountain for hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, very reasonable and good. I haven't been on the boards for awhile and I am out of the loop for discounts, any information would be helpful. I want to book next year as soon as possible with a good rate.

The Swan does not have counter serve restaurant in its building. Tubbi's, the counter serve, is located in the Dolphin.

Laurie~I have several S/D stays under my belt and I never miss the magic feel. I am sitting smack dab in the middle of it.

On my July 04 trip, the view from my balcony at the Dolphin was Epcot - Spaceship Earth dead center in my view and Illumination seen clearly every night from the balcony! Can't get any more Disney feel than that!

Btw, I really like the Dolphin Fountain. It's theme is the 50s soda fountain. BLT sandwich was 6.95, hamburger was 7.95.

to talk my husband into an impromptu trip due to this great rate. We have AP's so we wouldn't have to buy ticket media. But, we've already been twice this year and he doesn't want to spend the $$$. Even though I got a new car - it's a convertible - and it would be so much fun to drive it down. We live 8.5 - 9 hours away.

Lord knows - if someone can help me think of a way to convince him....

Never stayed at the S/D but we visit a lot for the restaurants. Love the Epcot Resort area - we use to only stay at the YC/BC until we discovered the Polynesian. It would be nice, I think, to go back to our old stomping grounds for a quick 4 night trip, don't you think??

If a fast food place is important to you, maybe you could stay at the dolphin instead. I always try to stay at the dolphin because Tubbies is so convenient. Plus it's open 24/7 and I always seem to get hungry at odd hours

We stayed at the Swan last month and loved it! The walk from our room to Tubbi's (open 24 hours) was a short one, probably shorter than it is to many resorts' food courts. It's also a very short walk over to the Boardwalk for a cheap hot dog or Spoodle's pizza take out. We also love the Dolphin! I think S/D does offer some kind of AP discount. I always felt like I was in the middle of the Disney magic at both the Swan and Dolphin. The Dolphin does have a more impressive lobby, the Swan's is more businesslike.

There is Disney magic at either the Dolphin or the Swan. You do not need to have an AP in hand to get the discount so if you want to try for the AKL go ahead and if asked you are going to purchase it when you arrive. I have never had anyone ask me when booking a room about my AP all I say is I am an AP member and they say fine. So I hope you have a great time and if you decide to stay at the Swan or Dolphin have a good time I did when I was just there.
