Swan vs Dolphin?

We are thinking of staying at the Swan this time instead of the Dolphin. I know the Swan has two queen beds vs doubles at the Dolphin but other than that what are the differences? Is the room much smaller? Has anyone been in one of their renovated rooms? I heard only the first few floors have been redone.

Also, do they have balconies? What view do you have? Last time we had such a super room at the Dolphin and got to see Epcot.

Would appreciate any opinions or information in regards to both these hotels.

I was wondering the same thing. I have reservations at the Swan and I believe it is a smaller room by 20 square feet.

I don't know about the views but I was wondering if the Dolphin might be more convenient for kids with Tubbies right there. My fear is that the rooms will be a bit more tired looking than the recently renovated ones at the Swan.

Which do people with kids tend to prefer?

Lastest update:

We will be cancelling our Dolphin reservations as they are not "customer friendly". Good luck to everyone else in dealing with them. I posted the story in a separate area of these boards as to why we feel this way.

SGF,
Could you give more information about where you posted your thoughts about why the Dolphin is not customer friendly? I haven't been able to locate your post.

Thanks!

Hi! You can find why I'm angry at that resort under the resort section of the boards under SGF. It says, "Dolphin Hotel and Mangement not fair!"

I don't think they handled this whole situation in a professional business manner. They had an "I don't care attitude".

We stayed at the Swan last month with the gov't rate after 10 years of Disney owned hotels. We had a recently renovated room and it was great. Location is great. We were really pleased overall and would definately go back. It was dh and dd (17) and myself. We had plenty of room. Heavenly bed are the best!

Opal ~ how far was it to walk to Epcot? We took a walk around the Broadwalk in April, but I didn't really pay attention to time. Thanks, S

I would estimate walk time to Epcot at 15 minutes. Very easy walk to either epcot or mgm unless it it super hot or raining!

As far as being easier for Tubbi's to be right there - I would bet there are a ton of rooms at the Swan that actually have easier access to Tubbis than rooms right at the Dolphin. We went from 12th floor - top center down the elevator and walked across to Tubbi's and were there in 5 minutes.

We just returned from our stay at the Dolphin 1/13 and LOVED it. The beach theme, the piano player in the lobby, the grotto pool, access to Epcot, MGM and Boardwalk add up to MAGIC! Happy planning!

The walk to Epcot was 10-15 minutes and the walk to MGM was about 20 minutes. We used to stay at CBR and we do love it there, but is very nice at the end of the night night to line up for the bus!

We've stayed at both & thought they were great! We will being staying at the Swan again in April. The biggest difference for us is that there were two sinks & mirrors at the Swan-one in the bathroom & one right outside of it. This allowed us both to get ready at the same time. We had a king-size bed at both locations, & were lucky enough to get upgraded to an Epcot-view balcony each time. You can't go wrong with either resort.
