if I book the special that includes a 1 category upgrade, plus I am a starwood gold member, will I essentially get a double upgrade? (assuming it is available at time of booking) I know gold members get a complimentary upgrade at check in if available, but does the special offered here on the DIS make the other null/void? We would love to stay at the Swan again, but my dad and mom want to go, and we would love a stay in a club level room, at the lowest cost possible. (my dad is used to staying at pretty low priced hotels.... I wouldn't want him to stroke out when he sees the rate!!!LOL!!!). TIA!!:teeth:

I imagine it would get you two upgrades, assuming there were any available.
But you need to be aware that there are many levels between the standardd view and CL.
It doesn't seem as if would be likely to get CL for 139.00, unless they were feeling generous at check-in.

Here are the available levels and the upgrade

Room type you book----------------- Upgraded room type

Standard View-------------------------Lake View
Lake View ----------------------------- Resort View (no balcony)
Resort View (no balcony) ----------- Resort View (w/balcony)
Resort View (w/balcony)------------ Club level (concierge)
Club level (concierge)----------------- no upgrade

I realise that the club level would not be at the $139.00 rate....just want it at the lowest rate possible. Assuming I could get the double upgrade, it looks like we could book the resort view no balcony to get to club level. Does anyone know what that rate would be?:p

Remember that's IF there's an upgrade available,

Why not call the S/D and explain what you need and see if they can work some magic for you if you book?

It might be that if you book at one, the CL would not be available, bbut if you bok at the other, there'd be plenty of room.

Yep, I'd call them for some guidance and see if the upgraded room might be available before doing anything else

Just returned from the Swan and after calling for a week before I left to get CL , unsuccesfully as they said the CL was sold out for the next 4 weeks!, they gave it to me a check-in - comp . I am convinced that check-in is the best chance of getiing CL. I was using SWD points for the 5 day stay and was willing to use points for the upgrade but they gave it to me comp . To me, Check-in is the best chance. They seem more cooperative when your standing right in front of them with your family as opposed to a phone call. Just my opinion.

I was already staying Club Level so when I called to apply the discount what they did so I could remain on club level was they gave me a rate of one category below which was resort view with balcony at $194 and with the comp upgrade it would put me where I'm already at-Club Level.
There is no comp upgrade if your already at Club Level.
I received a surprise, however, and the manager moved me to a suite with his compliments since they knew my husband and I were celebrating out 25th so I am thrilled!
The staff at the Swan are great. To treat guests like this when they haven't even arrived is terrific.
I highly recommend the Swan to everyone!

The Swan is a wonderful resort! My DH and I stayed there last year at Labor Day weekend (Th-Mo), we were celebrating our anniversary. While we did not get an upgrade, we did get champane and chocolate covered fruit in our room! It was so great. All the people at the Swan are so nice and service oriented! They really try to make sure the guests have everything they need, and then some! I don't know how a resort could have any more "magic" than the Swan gave us last year! We have only stayed on site one other time, at a cabin at Ft. Wilderness. The cabins were very nice, but the Swan is 100x better. :teeth:

I totally agree. They say to get that "magic" feeling you have to stay on Disney owned property which, as you can see, I have many times but I had such a bad experience at the Poly last year that i wanted to try something different and in a sense I'm still on Disney property so I wanted to try the Swan since it's a hotel I have always admired and boy... the "magic" has already begun and I haven't even gotten there yet.
What more could one ask for?
