We are staying at the Swan for the first time in a few days. We are longtime YC lovers, but the AP special at the S/D was too good to beat. I joined the Starwood guest program and send a email request from the S/D website asking for a really nice view (the AP rate includes a one-step upgrade from a standard view to a water view) and not to be too far from the lobby (we don't mind being high up, but last time we were at the YC, we were at the very end of the resort so far from the lobby that we were actually closer to the S/D than to the YC lobby!!). I sent this request for a really nice waterview w/ a King-size bed that isn't too far a hike from the lobby, but never having stayed at the Swan I didn't know exactly what part of the hotel or floor, etc. to ask for. Can anyone help?

Can anyone help me out with a waterview location that is nice and doesn't face a rooftop or anything icky and isn't too far from everything? Does anyone have a particular section of the Swan or a floor, etc. that is reccommended??

Thanks so much!!

We stayed at the Swan last year. IMHO, more important than the view is the bed you sleep in.

When we checked in, we were upgraded to a balcony room facing the lagoon with the swan boats and the beach area. Since we were so pleased with the upgrade, we forgot to ask if the room had a "Heavenly Bed"--and it didn't--and the beds were very uncomfortable.

However, they may have replaced all the beds by now and the issue could be moot. But ask, just to be safe.

Have a terrific time! :earsgirl:

Thanks. I've heard that the Swan is totally redone and all the rooms have Heavenly Beds. I called the Swan ressie a couple of days ago and double-checked this fact w/ them--the agent assured me that the Swan is completely redone. The view that you had sounds really nice--with a balcony too!! Did you ask for this upgrade when you checked in or did they just give it to you? Also, exactly where in the hotel was this room--left wing, right wing, etc. just in case I want to ask at check-in about this area?

Thanks again :earsgirl:

p.s. how did you like the grotto pool at the S/D when you were there?

You should post on the official Swan/dolphin thread. You don't have to read the whole thing just go to the last page and post!

Yes, the entire Swan has been renovated and all the rooms now have heavenly beds. They are in the middle of renovating the Dolphin and should be done there in a few months.

We've stayed at the Swan several times and have had great views. My favorite room location is at the end of the east wing facing EPCOT on an upper floor. We've gotten lucky enough to get an end room which has 2 windows, one facing the Dolphin and the other facing the BW/YC/BC and EPCOT. Great for viewing Illuminations.

The only area where you may look onto a roof would be the west wing facing west. Gulliver's/Garden Grille is located on this side so you would be looking over that roof. If you have a lakeview you should have a view facing either the Dolpin, the courtyard area or east (Epcot/BW/YC/BC area).

Views from the main building also face the lake on the north side, the south side of the building faces the parking lot and MGM.

Thanks so much for the information. The east wing rooms sound great. We would love to be facing YC/BW/Epcot area. Of course a view of the Dolphin would be fine too. I would also like to be up high--i bet the views are great. i am going to try to avoid the west wing facing west.

thanks again.

have a great vacation--looks like we'll be there the same week.
