I'm having a hard time booking resorts for the time we want to go, so I was wondering which one of these resorts was nice for the holidays. I know that Disney doesn't own these so I just wanted to make sure they had some decore going on.

The Christmas tree at the Dolphin is amazing!! I prefer the rooms at the Swan, but the lobby of the Dolphin is gorgeous, especially when decorated for Christmas.

DITTO on NancyIL's post...but the Dolphin is a VERY short walk so you can check out their lobby, the tree has a huge train that goes around it (the Dolphin train) :goodvibes and I believe they do lighting shows every few nights around dinnertime.

The Swan has a display with a gingerbread house...very cute.

Last year we had a great view of the tree in the courtyard area of the Swan. It made our stay very festive to look out at the tree every day and night :earboy2:

Be sure to check out the BC, they have a huge display of eatible holiday decorations! Very neat!

That sounds like our room last year! I really enjoyed our stay at the Swan over Christmas. We made a point of visiting every Disney deluxe resort to look at the decorations and one of our favorites was the Dolphin. The tree was beaufiful in a traditional way but aside from that they played great music and had this huge train going around the perimeter. It was so nice at night to grab a hot chocolate at Tubbies and just sit in one of the comfortable chairs and soak up the holiday spirit. Also the Swan and Dolphin had great Christmas activities from Santa in the lobby to elves that come to your room and read your children a bedtime story. We had a blast!

The Dolphin Lobby will definitely be more Christmasy, but either hotel is extremely nice and they are so close to one another. You can't go wrong with either one.

Dolphin. We have stayed there for Christmas '03 and '04. We feel like it is the more "central" of the activity of the 2 buildings. Tubbi's Buffeteria is open 24/7...Starbucks anytime! The light show is fun and the lifeguards have "reindeer games" over Xmas week...scavenger hunts etc. and it is nice to be by the Grotto pool. Just so you know...the tree is made up of red pointsettias, not a traditonal evergreen but very beautiful. Our kids actually went down on Christmas morning in their jammies to open a few gifts that were "left" for them in the lobby by the tree....it was so cool! Santa also has a wonderful visit station/chair at the Dolphin...great photo op, and we did not feel rushed. It is pretty cool when the whole resort is celebrating the holiday together, and you can't beat the location of either building during the holiday crowds! Loved being able to walk to Epcot and MGM, and the boats are really efficient as well.
You can't go wrong with either IMHO, but for a first holiday visit I think I would try the Dolphin first. Also, try going to
www.allears.net
to view some photos...it si quite helpful.
