Swan & Dolphin Weddings FAQ

Are there any restrictions on being able to release things into the air during the ceremony? Like Balloons etc?
I'm not sure, but they seem to be ok with you throwing anything that you want.

I emailed Karen and she said that she would still be my planner. She will remain the planner for all of the events she's currently assigned to.

I'd like to know this as well-- I would assume they would want environmentally friendly things only.

Sweet girls - When we were in the planning stages, Karen told us that we could more or less 'chuck what we wanted' as far as confetti goes. No mention was made of the fact that it had to be environmentally friendly. We ended up with little paper hearts and rose petals.
There may be more restrictions on releasing balloons etc, but ask Karen. She will know!!

Just confirming that I heard this as well from Karen!

I just assumed that there would be more restrictions on releasing items into the air since all the non-wedding guests could see it and birds/animals could eat it easier than the confetti on the ground that gets swept up right after weddings. :rotfl:

If you ask, please let us know as I'd love to do a release!!

Well, the environmentalist in me has to say that I think it is a bad idea to release balloons. Especially since the Swan is on the water and there are ducks who live in the water. Ducks try to eat balloons and often die from them getting caught in their throats and it ends up blocking their airways. I've heard of companies you can hire that will release doves.

Hi girls! Did anyone block off rooms for their wedding?

I just called the S/D and they told me that if there were any unused rooms in the block that'd I'd be responsible for paying. UGH. They did offer me a good deal though!

I'd love to hear what you did/what you're planning on doing!

We called Swan & Disney leisure groups, and were all set to go with leisure groups before the free dining promo was released for our week. We all just took free dining. We didn't like the Swan's offer because we still had to pay their resort fee and parking fee on top of the rate we were quoted. I think the resort fee was $12 and the parking was $12. Most importantly was that the Swan did not offer magical express and lots of our guests are flying in. We didn't want to have to do a ton of airport runs so magical express was necessary.

I know Disney leisure groups would let you drop rooms from your block up to 30 days prior if they weren't booked. Anything after that would be charged to you. I don't know if the swan does the same or not. Swan is good versus Disney deluxe hotels but we were looking at moderates and Disney leisure groups gave us a better deal on those. They also offered tickets at 10% off with a freebie thrown in. They're worth looking into!

hey jillian i know you sent it to me but can you post the leisure group info here on the boards so we can get in contact with them.

Swan and Dolphin doesn't do Magical Express? Crap for some reason I thought they did!
No, no magical express and you also cannot get the dining plan added to a stay @ Swan or dolphin. Everything else you get (magic hours, transporation, etc). Only the transportation to and from MK and AK really stink from the S/D. They share a bus with 2 other resorts, I think beach and yacht club? We took the bus from Swan to MK after our menu tasting and it took us 20 mins until the bus even came and another 45 mins to get to MK. We timed it because we were gonna use Dis transportation for our VR. After tha we changed our minds and hired mears. You use the boats for epcot and Hollywood studios

I emailed Disney Leisure Groups and haven't heard anything yet... BUT, I did speak to the Catering Manager at S/D who said that instead of a contract where we'd be responsible for unbooked rooms we could set up a "call in code" where guests could call in with a code and receive a discount assuming the S/D still had availability. The S/D would only offer the code to a certain number of guests.

I thought this was a good option! Hope it helps someone!

Try calling, I've never had luck with emailing Disney for anything. I called and spoke with someone who put me in the system and they emailed me the rates a few days later.
