I have only been to WDW once when I was in high school. I am now 34 with 2 children and plan on a trip the beginning of June 2005. I am so glad I found this site. I am a teacher and have seen that the S/D Hotels give discounts to teachers. Has anyone used the teacher discount for a S/D hotel room in June? I was just curious how much it would cost. Also my sister's family will be going as well. Could I get her a room with the discount? Otherwise we will be staying at the POR which my sister loves, but if we had the chance I would love to try the S/D because I have heard such great reviews.:earsgirl: :earsgirl:

DH and I used teacher's rates for the first and last nights of our trip in '02. We loved it there; in fact DH liked it better than the Poly where we were in between!

We paid $139, but i think it's ten and twenty dollars more, now, depending on whether the room has been renovated or not.

Have you checked the link at the top of the page? I think the teacher rate is usually listed there.

Last year in June I paid $129 at the Dolphin with the teacher discount. This year all I could find was $149 at both the Swan and Dolphin, and we are staying at the Swan. You can book up to 3 rooms in your name on the discount. One of the good things about the location is you can rent a car. I would try to book as soon as you can get the teacher rate for the time you are going. I think they have a limited number of rooms at the discount. You can always cancel up to a week before your trip. If you can't find a room for the time you want to go, keep checking. Sometimes there are conventions that block tons of rooms, but don't end up using them all.

Whether you can book with the teacher/nurse/government rate (they are all the same) depends on availability, which depends on whether there are any big conventions at the S/D when you want to stay there. We had no problem at all getting the dates we wanted in June 2001 with the nurse discount. But when I tried to book our trip for last month, they didn't have any availability because they had a big convention going on.

If your dates are available, I would highly recommend staying at the S/D. They are wonderful hotels, and the location simply can't be beat!

I LOVE the teacher discount! It's been $149 this summer. I used DreamsUnlimited Travel - an on-line travel agency for both trips. I believe the link is above on your screen. They will also make priority seating arrangements for you! You simply select restaurants and type in your desired time. They make the arrangements for you. Even for July, I received the times I wanted for all but one restaurant. (Note: I didn't plan character breakfasts....) Good luck and happy planning!

Swan teacher's rate -

Hi GMF, and welcome to this place of some great information. If you can't get an answer here, there might not be one!

We have three rooms booked with the teacher's rate for a week in August. We booked in February of this year without a problem. After reading all the great reviews of the S/D here, we are looking forward to our stay.

You will have the best time staying in the Epcot Resort area - there is just so much to do; five hotels around the lake, many places to dine, the boardwalk, and the ability to walk to both Epcot and MGM (or take a nice boat ride). Have fun!! Bob

We stayed at the Dolphin using the Teacher rate during Easter! It was AWESOME!!! You can't beat the location! The servive, the pool, the room... It was all AWESOME!
