For a first time trip, do these resorts capture the magic of WDW? Which resort is the best Swan or Dolphin? How is the concierge at these resorts?

Thanks for all your help.

How many people in your party? If 4 or under I would go for the Swan. I prefer the Swan because is has queen size beds, a sink inside the bathroom and one outside, and the hotel has a more intimate feeling. The Dolphin will permit 5 in a room (with a roll away bed) because the beds are doubles, not queens. And, with renovations already underway at the Swan, you may be able to nab a renovated room!

We stayed at the Dolphin for the first time this past August. At first, I was concerned about not staying at a Disney resort. We have always stayed in a Disney resort and to now stay at the Dolphin was a worry. However, the teacher rate was the motivator.

I must say that we never once not felt the Disney magic! We were in the heart of the EPCOT area; surrounded by the Disney feel. One morning we saw a character from Pocahontas and Mr. Smee walking through the lobby. We believed they were in training since nothing else was going on at that time.

I did not miss the Mickey toiletries or the Mickey voice wake-up call. We were just too busy and happy to notice.

As long as the Dolphin/Swan offers the teacher rate, I would not hesitate returning. In fact, we are planning an August 2003 trip and hope to try the Swan.

Having Stayed at 10 of the WDW hotels and all three of the Disney Hotels at Disneyland I finally stayed at the Dolphin on my last trip. I thought it was great and while there aren't hidden Mickeys or a Mickey wake up call the resort was still colorful and fun and we were upgraded to a really neat room which also helped. I may have had a less enthusiastic review had I gotten one of the standard rooms overlooking the roof of the convention center. But it was still really fun. With a good price and the great location you should be pretty happy.
