At the swan/dolphin can you get the dining plan? Are their resaurants on the plan? Can you use ME? Are the teacher rates all the time or only special times?
THANKS FOR THE HELP

you cannot get dining plan as they are not owned by Disney. You can, however use ME. I am not sure how often they have teacher rates and how much they are, but I know they seem to have them pretty often anyway

I'm not certain about teacher rates, but they have gov't rates fairly often. The trick is to call at the right time. Often you'll find better luck if you call directly than trying to book through the website. I think you'll have trouble finding the teacher rate during typical teacher holdays.
You may, however, find pretty good rates through allearnet.com. Sign up for the newsletter, as they often offer exclusive deals through the newsletter. This website often has deals too! :sunny:

You cannot use ME with the Swan or Dolphin. That service is only for guests at Disney-owned resorts.

I believe that the Teacher/Nurse/Govt. Employee rate at the S/D runs most of the year, but on a limited number of rooms.

There may be blackout periods during the peak times, Christmas, etc.

Also if you call the S/W and they say they are out of rooms at the teacher rate (or that it's over when you know it's not) try Dreams Unlimited. They usually have an ad on the wdwinfo home page. The woman I spoke to on the S/W line was really rude and claimed that the promotion was over in September, when I had read the news bullet that it was extended until Oct 2. I tried to tell her that, and that I'd seen availablity online, and she told that I should book online then. Almost made me call Disney central reservations instead, but I tried Dreams Unlimited and they got me a room at the Dolphin, no problem.

Thanks everyone for your help. I like ME and the meal plan so the room would have to be cheap for me to stay here.

my bad. :guilty: I checked and you are right. I was told previously by a reservations CM over the phone that it was included. Perhaps they got it mixed up. Disney transportation you can use, but not ME.

We were at the Swan the week before Labor Day. Teacher/nurse/gov't employee rate was $99/night. Since we wanted a deluxe hotel for the queen size beds, this beat even the free dining plan by a long shot.

You always need to check with the S/D regarding certain WDW programs/promotions. Most of the time it not because the S/D didn't want to participate in them, but because WDW did not offer the opportunity to them to participate. (being discluded from these plans never stops us from staying there-they are our favorite resorts in all of WDW) :goodvibes

I have a question about the teacher/nurse/govt. rate.

My sister and I are going to WDW in May 2006, we were thinking of trying the Swan or Dolphin as we like how close it is to Epcot & MGM...anyway, my sister is a nurse, but at the moment it is looking like she might not be able to go until the day after me, so I would get there a day ahead of her. Would I still be able to check in and everything or would this be a problem as she is the one who is actually the nurse? What kind of ID to they require for the rate? -- I could just go the same day as her, but I hate to give up a day I could spend at Disney and was thinking of doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour that she has no interest before she got there.

I Did Get The Special Rate During The Busiest Time Of The Year. (the Week Between X-mas And New Years) Not As Low As During Other Times But Still Not Bad At 166.00. I Called Directly Just A Few Weeks Ago.

Can Swan and Dolphin guests have their park purchases delivered back to the resort, or is this benefit strictly for guests of Disney resorts? TIA!

You can have your purchases sent back to the resort, however, unlike Disney owned resorts where the packages are sent to your room, you will have to pick up your packages at the front desk. To me, that's really not that big of a deal.......as long as I don't have to lug those packages around it's fine for me!

Last time we were at the Dolphin (last Christmas), package pickup was in the gift shop--not the front desk. Has this changed?
