Swan / Dolphin on Hotwire

Unfortunately, it looks like all those 81.00 rates have disappeared for now. I hope they come back.

Whew! Glad I got my $81 room at the Dolphin when I did. Just for kicks, I entered my dates (11/16-22) again and the $81 rate is gone. However, Hotwire is showing at $115 rate for a hotel with the following amenties...Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby. No laundry facilities either on the initial screen or in the detailed listing window. Is it Swan or Dolphin or something else?

I'm definitely not a pro at this but when we tried to get the S/D a week ago our dates were coming up $115 with the same amenities listed at the S/D. A few days ago we secured the $81 rate. Maybe they're back up to $115? Just a guess :)

I just plugged in Jun 4-8. The 4* that was listed had everything you mentioned for the Dolphin (included spa icon) but when I clicked to check more amenities, laundry was not listed. Could this still be the Dolphin? The rate was $115. Also, will this rate stay consistent or is there a possibility it will go lower for the same period? Thanks - really liked your site.

KJMC,
Jim hasn't been around for a couple of days. He's probably doing 'research'... I would be careful bidding on that hotel you mentioned. From what I've read, 'laundry' should be there on the ammenities page for the Swan and Dolphin. That rate might be for the Wyndham Palace or something similar.

No, that hotel you see listed is likely not the Swan/Dolphin. It may be Wyndham, Gaylord Palms, or Marriott World Center (nobody has identified it yet for sure). For the Swan/Dolphin, one has Laundry and Spa listed for ammenities, the other has no spa but does have laundry. The icons really have to match EXACTLY with what is described in the hotel lists. The last few days we've seen the deals on Swan/Dolphin dry up considerably. A few dates are still available in late April, but at a higher rate. I would suspect we could see some more inventory released anytime however.

Jim

By the way, I've never stayed at Swan or Dolphin. I have ressies at AKL for $144/night in June. Swan/Dolphin I can get for $129/night plus the $10/night fee. So the price for either resort is about the same. Can anyone advise which is better - AKL or Swan/Dolphin?

We just came back from a split stay AKL/Dolphin and prefered the Dolphin! We loved the beach theme, grotto pool and access to Epcot, MGM and Boardwalk. Happy planning!

Hopefully my last question...how's the bus transportation from Swan/Dolphin? We plan on including Blizzard Beach on our trip and just hoping the Disney transportation is more than adequate for such large resorts. Any comments?

Bus transportation was great at the S/D. They also have friendship boats that take you to Epcot and MGM if don't feel like walking. At Epcot you can take the monorail to MK or resort hop. You will need a bus to get to BB. We did visit TL while we were there and did not have one problem with the busses.

If I remember correctly one of the busses that takes you from the Swan Dolphin to DownTown Disney stopped at Blizzrd Beach directly...

If comfort and location is a factor then the Swan fits the bill! They have those new Heavenly beds, they are to die for! almost as comfy as Portofino's beds!
I love the location of the Swan as well, convenient to Epcot & MGM and very close to AK. Many great restaurants to chose from in walking distance.

I am choosing to stay at the AKL over the Swan/Dolphin in early July. I have stayed at the Swan and really liked the room and location, but for the same price I chose AKL.

I can't seem to access Jim's site. Does anyone know which hotels on hotwire include these amenities? They're in Lake Buena Vista:

- 4 stars: restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center (customer favorite)
- 3 and a half stars: restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, golf, tennis, laundry (customer favorite)

Thanks!
