being reading mixed review on the Swan/Dolphin services, specially with their housekeeping :confused3

most comments I read are just avg to poor cleaning service. is it simply due to the fact they're not part of Disney's cleaning dept that I hear praises about?

can people that recently stayed there add more comments to their services?
Thank you

I stayed at the Swan in October, and I have also stayed at the Dolphin (2003). I had no complaints about housekeeping, in fact my stays were both wonderful and I consider Swan/Dolphin to be a fantastic bargain considering the price to stay at the nearby Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club.

I travel frequently for business and would compare the quality of service at the Swan/Dolphin to most other Westin/Sheraton Hotels across the country.

I also had good luck with housekeeping at the Swan/Dolphin. Sometimes they don't get to your room until later in the day. If that is a concern, just call housekeeping in the morning and tell them you want your room cleaned before 2 p.m. or whatever time you will return to your room.

Got back from a Thanksgiving trip to the Dolphin! We had no trouble with housekeeping. They did a wonderful job and always had our room ready when we came back for our noon nap! :cool1:

I loved the "Do Not Disturb Until" whatever time signs for the doorknobs. Do they still have them? I loved it that we put that dial on "noon" and we were never bothered. In fact, we never even saw a housekeeper and when we got back, things were all cleaned. In fact, one day we just did laundry and sat by the pool and were gone only two hours and everything was fine when we got back.

We've always had impeccable housekeeping for each and every stay.

I just got back from the Swan last night. It was my third stay there this year. I have had fantastic housekeeping service every time. :goodvibes

We have been about 7 times to the dolphin and most times not had any problems - this year there were 8 of us in 4 rooms. 2 rooms were next to each other and the other 2 were in another side of the hotel. Unfortunately we got really bad service. We always left a $2 tip and several days we came back to find the tip had gone but the rooms hadnt been done. We quite often didnt have our bins emptied or towels taken away. Basically the beds were made (quite badly aswell, even i managed to do it better lol) and that was it, we never got any more toilettries, coffee or towels with out having to go down to the front desk and ask. This was true for the 2 rooms together - the other 2 rooms got the normal great service ive always had at the dolphin.

I think prehaps there are just a few of the housekeeping staff who arent quite as helpful and nice as the others.

We stayed at the Dolphin this spring. Housekeeping was just as good as the Disney resorts. The prices are much better and we will certainly stay at the Dolphin again.

Just got back from Swan and was not overly impresssed. Came back to my room after 2pm for a much needed rest after being gone since 7:30am and the room was not made up yet. I put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out and the next two hours twice it was ignored by housekeeping trying to get in followed by a phone call asking if I want my room made up. Other than being slightly annoyed, not really a big deal, but it is a reflection on how obviously short staffed housekeeping is.

Had I known this would be an issue I would have called down to have it made up while I was gone, but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a bed to be made and towels replaced by 2. They also don't have the "Please Make Up Room" sign.

When we stayed in March 2004, I had a problem with the beds--they were just too hard for me. This was before all the rooms were renovated and the heavenly beds were added. I talked to the front desk and they said they'd send up some pads for the bed. I went down to Tubbi's to refill drinks and by the time I got back to the room--housekeeping had already come and gone and delivered the pads.

We had great service during our entire 2 week stay last Christmas, too.

Now when I stayed at AsMo several years ago, I requested an iron & ironing board for the room. I came back and they were literally just dumped into the middle of the floor--it looked as though they had flung open the door and thrown them in. AND it had taken two days and about four phone calls to get it.

thanks for all your inputs!! seems to be a hit or miss thing with the cleaning staff. when problems arise was it easy to get it taken care of by calling front desk? and it's quite odd they dont have a "room cleaning service' sign... then again I always worried about little brats playing around and flip those sign cards.

Like Swilphil mentioned on occasion they don't make up your room until later, but this depends on the location. That can easily be taken care of if you call down before you leave in the morning and ask housekeeping to have the room made up by a specific time, never had a problem with that.

As far as the service...I've found their housekeeping to be pretty much the same as the WDW owned resorts. I think it all depends on the "individual" who cleans the room. They also change every few days. Sometimes my dd has had some really cute displays with her stuffed animals and dolls upon our return. :teeth:

We just got back from our trip Dec. 4th and the housekeeping was great. We are not early risers. We always put the do not disturb sign on. One day the housekeeper did knock. We told her to come back later. She was a little confused and thought we were checking out, we actually had a continuing reservation and werent changing rooms. One day my ds said they made the room up around 4 pm. I always leave a $3 tip for each day. Our room was always up and things were well stocked, soap, towels, etc.

During my stays I found housekeeping to be doing a great job. The toiletries were always replaced with new ones even though it may still have been half used. I especially loved turndown service. It was nice to walk in at night and have the beds turned down, blinds closed and a few lights put on.
