Ok, here's my question.... I have a couple different ways in which I could get a room discount at the Swan or the Dolphin, and I am trying to figure which would be the best bet for a September stay. I am a Starwood Preferred Plus member, I have AAA, I have the Entertainment Book, and if a code comes out before then. So I'm wondering if any of these discounts can be used in conjunction with one of the others. I know that my Preferred Plus membership is related to my AAA which means I get a free upgrade. Can any of these others be combined? I know the entertainment book discount is only off the rack rate, but is the SPP rack rate different from the general public rack rate? Help! I'm still learning :)

I second this question, LOL! I have been wondering about this myself. Another thing I am curious about is the different room types. As I read over threads I see, besides the standard ones that make sense, LOL, I see corner, king, corner king, corner king resort view, etc. etc. etc. Help me understand please.........:headache:

I have the same kind of Starwood you have and I'm not even sure which sort of room I want or what upgrade I would get ;)

Thanks for any help!

I don't know if this helps much, but visit the sponsor page - Dreamsunlimited.com. We have the entertainment discount amongst other things. You can plug in your travel dates on dreamsunlimited.com and select different discount options to see what it prices out at. I don't think you can combine discounts, but it might be worth calling the resort to find that out. Anyways - we have had the absolute best pricing for S/D through dreamsunlimited.com by far. Sometimes it is cheaper to just select 'no discount'. Prices change and some months may not be discounted at this point, so it is worth it to keep checking. I hope this helps somewhat.

Ok, I went to dreamsunlimited.com and here is what I got
For the week of September 18-25.

AP Rates for $147.50
AAA Rates for $147.50
Entertainment Rates for $147.50

All these rates were for the first 3 nights and then the rates went up to $219 for the last 4 nights. There are no rates listed for Starwood, so I think I might call and ask...

There is no advertized special for Dolphin for SPG(i am member), but there is a special at all Westin-Swan included ,pay for 4 nights and get 2 nights free. Go to web-site (spg.com)and click on special promotions. I don't know if it is still available when you are going, but it was for June and July. I stayed using teachers discount 12/28-1/02/04 at Swan ($149), but upgraded to CL for $214. Didn't have enough SPG points then to use, but I have tons, now . Got the new SPG Amex and they give you about 10,000 total when you join and you acrue with each purchase.

OK, then well here's another question... I just went to the SPG site and checked out the 4nights and 2free deal. If I can save a TON then I can easily switch when we were going to go. So I was quoted $916 for 6 nights at the Swan for July 3-9. Now do you think I can use my entertainment discount to get the 50% off the 4 nights that I am paying 'rack rate' for? If it would end up being $458 for 6 nights then SIGN ME UP :) Maybe I'll call from work tomorrow-doesn't hurt to ask, right? ;)

The 2 night free deal is just with the rate listed in the promotion. That is still a GREAT rate of $153/night!

Also... $916/4 is $229 per night - which is still considerably less than their listed rack rate. Add 2 free nights, and that is a good deal.

I know, I know...I really can't afford to do that though. It wouldn't be a problem if park hoppers weren't so expensive on top of it. I was dreaming thinking I would be able to stay in a 'deluxe.' I did call today, just to chance it, but I got the answer I figured I would get. The four night rate is already a discounted rate, plus with the 2 nights free...no other combinations of discounts allowed :( Oh well, I guess a value resort it is! They did, however, tell me when I called the Swan directly that they have a LOT of entertainment dates available for September. So maybe I'll see what I can get.

(Still crossing my fingers :) )

Ok, talked to SPG today and here is what I was told by Anthony.
Week of Sept 18-25, no rooms available at all for Swan or Dolphin
Week of October 9-16, no rooms available at all for Dolphin, and a few rooms available for Swan, but none of which you can use an Entertainment Rate or AAA rate for. The best available rate they could give me was $275/night. I'm frustrated! :( Should I try to call again?? I think maybe I'll call the Swan directly and see what they say ;)

SRUAlmn-I just sent you a PM-hope it helps you out!
