I was just looking around on the boards & I came across something about the S&D called a teacher discount, also about how the S&D are cheaper than any of the other Epcot area resorts. I am thouroghly confused! From everything I have read in books & such-- it looks like the S&D are one of the most expensive on property resorts! The room rates listed in the birnbaum compare to that of one of the more expensive Deluxe hotels! Also- what is this teacher discount, & how much of a discount are we talking? I am not a school teacher, I teach gymnastics primarily & some nursery school, I'm not a team coach, I am a teacher & have taken certifications & such. Does the discount apply to all educators or only school type teachers & what sort of "proof" do you have to show? Thanks in advance for any help! :)

You have to show some form of certification that you are a teacher. It sounds like you would not qualify for that discount. However, if you get an Entertainment book (or are already a member of the Disney Club) you qualify fot the Entertainment club discount, which is %50 off the rack rate. We have stayed in a Dolphin king room with double balconies for only $149.00 plus tax before. Anyone can get one of these books, either from a fundraiser or through a local book store.

I am a teacher and stayed at the Dolphin in August with teacher rate of $129/nite. I brought my active state teacher certificate to show as proof. I believe you must show proof of state teaching credentials or a letter from the principal on school stationary.

if you work for a public school, you can get the government discount which is the same rate as the Teach discount. It is good for all levels of government including towns.

I am a New York State employee, and have been for 22 years. I work in Albany. Last Dec. I got the gov't discount at The Swan.
It was $129. for a standard room, value season. I also got the same rate for THIS coming Dec. I booked my ressie about 10 months in advance. You just cannot beat the location !
