Does anyone know when the teacher/education support staff rates are usually released. We are considering going this winter or spring but only if the special rates are in effect.

They are already out. They don't have the incredible deal that they did like this past year, though. I called and got a quote of 189 a night for May/June. When you add in the 10 for parking and the 10 for resort fee, I don't think it's that great. We'll wait for them to release the extra low rate. I don't know if they will, but they dropped the rate in the fall for the rest of the year. Hope this helps and good luck.

I booked 2 rooms for next June/July at $189/nite. I'm hoping I get a lower rate the closer I get to my dates. That's what has happened my last 2 trips. i still think in the end(after all the add on's )its still cheaper than the other Epcot resorts.

How do you get a teacher education rate ? Is it only for persons living in florida? Im a teacher- never heard of it :(

We stayed at the Swan in June 2007 at the government rate (was the same as teacher rate) for $99/night! I don't know if that was a one-time deal or not, but I'll be monitoring the rates for the next several months, as we are planning a June trip as well.

Call and ask for it.

$219 for marathon weekend. NOt a deal for us considering the $10 + $10.

The Teacher/Education Support Staff discount has been around for several years. My cousin is a teacher and was able to get a couple of rooms on that special rate previously. The rates seem to be a little different each year. I've seen them vary (at the lowest rate) from $99 to $149 per night. They are not available all the time. We had previously waited until late winter or early spring to book for a summer trip. So I was not sure when they released the rate for the year and the available dates.

Hi Mikel2008: I just called yesterday and got a teacher rate of $189 for the 2nd week in June. Even with the $10, it is way less than we would have spent on any of the other resorts in the Epcot area (BC,YC,BW, etc). The rates are not posted on their website, though...you need to call the Swan/Dolphin directly. Good luck!

Remember to keep checking rates for next summer! I just bet they'll drop to $149 or lower!!!!:goofy:

Hi,

Just curious. What did it end up dropping to???

Thanks!!

Denise

Wondering if anyone ever got some sort of teacher discount on the suites (jr. suite at Dolphin or studio studio suite at Swan)? I am thinking the answer is no, but I was just curious.

They just dropped the rates!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I had planned on staying here this upcoming May, but 189 + parking & resort fee was too much. We were going to stay at POR, which we love. Well, I was just playing online and I put in our dates, May 28 - June 6, and it came up at 149 a night! Not the 129 we paid at Thanksgiving, but a heck of a lot less than a couple of weeks ago. I did go ahead and book, but I'll keep on looking for my magic number of 129.

Hope all of the teachers out there are going to have a wonderful school year. We've been back almost 3 weeks and my class is fantastic. Happy school to all! :teacher:

Were you able to book the teacher rate online? I don't see where to do that?

I put my dates in 16-30 Aug 2010 and the Swan is showing a rate (government) of $159+tax.

Can you book teacher rate online?

You click on the Government Rate drop down. Weird it doesn't say 'Teachers' but they've lumped us together.

Thanks, so if I want to book online rather than by phone its ok to use the government rate?

I did that last year, but then when my reservation showed "government rate" and stated the credentials I had to produce at check-in, I got nervous & called their 800#. They booked me at the same rate under the "teacher" category and I canceled my online reservation. :rotfl2: No worries when I checked-in! :goodvibes

(My worry was a "what if"!! What if the front desk has to reclassify the reservation when I check in and they say "sorry, no educator rates are available now"! :scared1:)
