think of staying this time in the Swan or Dolpin was wondering why would i buy my tickets there instead of from disney at the gates
any benfits from getting there at the hotel

You can purchase your Disney tickets at the Swan and Dolphin. However, I would suggest that you purchase your tickets before you go, through a reputable service, such as ticketmania.com. Some discounts are available if you subscribe to the mousesavers.com newsletter. This newsletter is a great publication. If you are a member of AAA, you can also purchase tickets from them. I think the DIS may also have a ticket service. The Swan and Dolphin are great hotels. We used to stay "next door" at the Yacht Club, but with the special rates that are often available at the Swan and Dolphin, it was a no brainer to move next door.

One advantage I can think of right off is that the ticket line at S&D may be shorter than the ticket lines at the parks at times.

I also know that some off-site hotels sell Disney tickets at a discount, so it's possible that S&D does, as well, but I have not seen a price list from them. It's worth checking out ahead of time.

You can not pick up tickets for HDD or Luau shows at the Swan/Dolphin - they are Starwoord resorts. You have to go next door to the Y/BC to pick them up - just a 5 min walk down the sidewalk along the water.
