Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a long while!

DH and I are thinking of planning a group trip for about 20-30 people for our anniverary and hosting an informal anniversary party in a suite. Do any of you have experience with the S/D suites? Do any of the S/D suites have views of Epcot of MGM (for fireworks?) What about the prices? I am a teacher, does that discount apply to suites as well? We are looking at the Executive, Grand, or Governor's suites.

I thought there used to be more info in the S/D FAQ on the suites, but I can't find it.

Thanks in advance!

I can't help you with all of your questions, but here is the link to the Swan/Dolphin website with the specifics on the different suites available.

The executive suite is very nice with a large dining table, living room area and a dry kitchen. You can apply a teacher discount to it, but it is still pretty pricey. The S/D website has floor plans for the different suites.

We stayed in an executive suite in the Dolphin... has a King murphy bed in the parlor, so you could fold it up and create a lot of floor space... probably room for 20 people to mingle... if they don't mind taking turns sitting down! Aside from the king bed, there was a sofa sleeper, coffee table, 2 arm chairs and a small dingin table with 2 chairs. It's a nice size suite, but for entertaining 20-30 people, if you want to do it right, you would probably want to step up to a bigger suite. Probably want to call them direct and discuss options - they are pretty knowledgable.

Our suite did have a view of the Epcot fireworks, but only from one of the bedrooms - not the parlor. Surprisingly, I don't think many of the suites have very good views, and the general rule is that none have balconies at the Dolphin (although I think there are a few rare exceptions).

We are staying at the Swan right now in a king executive suite. VERY ROOMY!! (similar to the Dolphin but instead of a Murphy bed there is a regular queen in the palor area in the corner by the window. Almost too big for our small family of 3)... (as I keep losing track of where I put everything LOL!!) :earboy2:

Definitely large enough in the palor room for 20-30 people although I agree seating might be an issue HOWEVER you might want to check to see if you can maybe rent chairs or have them sent up. Don't know how this would work but I'm sure they have them since they have conventions in these resorts all the time.

Our view from the bedroom area is mostly of the garden area below, we can see the BWV a bit but there are mostly trees. We are in the corner inside area and have a view of the Dolphin from the palor. Since we're on the 3rd floor we can't see Epcot but we can sorta see the BWV through the trees, but if you're on one of the upper floors you probably could see Epcot & Illuminations. Both of the rooms have a balcony but you definitely couldn't fit more than a small amount of people on them.

Don't think they can guarantee your room location either. I'm not sure where the other suites are located in the resort.

But, I must admit the first thing that came to my mind when we checked in was how big this suite was...what a great room to have a party in!! LOL!!

Thanks for your replies! I am also looking into the 1 bedroom suite at the Contemporary, which would be my first choice because it's huge and has views of the castle. That one runs about $1000 a night. Still WAAAYYY cheaper than hosting an "official" gathering through Fairy Tale Weddings, and would be more my family's style anyway.

Would you mind sharing how much you paid for the suites at the S/D?

We stayed in the Grand Suite last summer and it was beautiful. The grand suite has 2 rooms and my teenage boys stayed in one room that had 2 queen beds and their own bathroom. It was probably just your basic room because they had their own door that linked the 2 rooms. My DH and I stayed in the larger suite which had one queen bed, a huge table with chairs, a parlor area that had a sofa and lounge chair and the tv and a dry kitchen plus our own bathroom. We also had 2 balconies in our room and the boys had their own balcony and we had an Epcot view and every morning when I opened the curtains I saw Spaceship Earth and at night we watched the fireworks from our balcony.
It was wonderful and a vacation we will never forget and it's why we're going back and I can't wait.

Any of the larger suites will suit your needs, and have a very nice "wet bar" to accommodate large groups/parties. ::yes:: We always prefer the Exec suite in the WDW Dolphin, although we have stayed in a Jr./Grand and 2 & 1/2 bay. :goodvibes

Yes, many of the suites (the larger exec/up) provide beautiful views of Epcot and illuminations. These suites may be reserved specifically, if you phone the resort directly with your needs (anniversary party) etc.

Enjoy your plans! :cloud9:

We had a grand suite during our stay and the views were beautiful!!!! We had an Epcot view and watched Illuminations every night from our balcony. It was a vacation we will never forget and I'M looking forward to our trip in August.

Anybody willing to share what they paid per night for these suites and what time of year they travelled?
