SWA Travel funds question

Yes, I realize I'm on the DIS, but I think I found a website less user friendly that the disney one - the SWA help page!

We booked flights last Sept 1 for Orlando, then I was able to get lower fares before we left. We have $104 each to spend. I know they expire Sept 1, 2013, but the question I cant find an answer too is, can I book a flight before they expire for after 01 Sept? We were thinking about popping down for Night of Joy, which is the next weekend.

No, your flights have to be completed before the expiration. And you can't extend them until after they actually expire. So they might be useful not for that Sept trip, but for your next trip after that.

You can let them expire, and then extend them for a fee. I think it is $50 EACH. What I can't remember is how long you have to call for the extension, I think one year, and then they are good for 6 more months. (??)

One benefit to this, is that the extended credits are LUV vouchers, and not tied to the individual names anymore. (correct me if I am wrong, other DIS people!) I have an expired credit floating around right now. Waiting to extend once I know I have a trip to book.

Maybe we could turn it in to a week trip and get outta here on 01 sept. ha.

$200 seems a bit steep to extend them...even if it lets me keep $200. Hmm but changing them from names to vouchers might be good. Hmm.
