SWA stroller gate check

When we gate check a stroller on Southwest do they have it ready when we depart the plane or do we need to go through baggage claim ? We are using DME and i hate to have to wait for just the stroller as we will need it before checking into our room. Thanks

You may need to wait a few minutes, but you'll wait IN the jetway just after exiting the plane. Gate-checked items are brought up there from under the plane as soon as possible, but whether you or the stroller comes off the plane first depends how quickly you get off the plane - but wait for it right there, don't go up the walkway into the terminal.

We were in the second row of the plane and when we got off we had to wait in the walkway about 30 seconds for our stroller.
