SWA RR points Purchase...Category?

I have enough points on my AMEX to redeem for $100 in "travel" purchases. I was thinking about using it to buy RR points with SWA the next time they have a special. Right now, I could buy 4,000 points for $110 and then get a statement credit ("refund") of $100 by redeeming my points. I figure if SWA runs the promo where you get a 20-50% bonus (about another 800 points), then I will pay the $10 OOP to get 4,800 RR points. I prefer to book our trips with points and we are by no means "frequent flyers" so it takes a while for me to accumulate points.

The only glitch is that it has to be categorized as "travel". Is there even a possibility that a purchase of points from SWA (with SWA as the merchant) would NOT be a travel-related category?? I'm thinking I should be fine, but I wanted to confirm.

I've thought about by SW gift cards to use to purchase points but when I've clicked through to pay for the points it only gives me an option to enter a credit card number, no options for paying with a gift card. Has anyone been able to pay with a gift card when buying SW points? I'm like the OP, I also prefer paying with points, more flexibility that way.
