sooooo
I booked flights using SWA RR points in dec, and just rebooked at lower point value/cost.
I called CS, and unlike bookings using a credit card, the Rapid Reward points are deposited back into your acct without any time or passenger restrictions! (for those who didn't know, "money" funds from a cancelled/lower cost flight expire 1 year from date of original booking, and are only applicable to flights for the same person on original reservation).

and i applied the $2.50 charge per ticket as "unused funds" on the new tix so didn't get charged again.

i'm a happy camper

Yes, it's really awesome! I changed an award flight on Delta last year to return one day later. The new flight was less miles so I had to pay $150 to redeposit the miles and then I rebooked it. If I would have just changed the ticket, it still would have been $150 but I would not have got any miles back.

I agree I love Southwest. I have also done this in the past and saved about 7,000 points.

And in a related point, if you ever find yourself in a position to need to purchase a ticket for someone else who is "iffy" on actually flying when scheduled, such as a child's friend, or a strapped-for-cash cousin, etc., it can be worth it to even purchase points to use to "buy" the airfare, because if the person cancels, you get all the points back into your own account.

yes...excellent program they have.....:cool1:
